Andrew----thanks for responding. This site is really great to gather info. All of us will be on deck 7 and praying we do fine. I will keep the fresh air in mind and we do plan to buy patches, etc. Any tips on these?-M
Hi,
I avoided posting anything on this thread, as there is a very loyal group of cruisers who love Deck 2, and I didn't want to start any argument, but when I saw your post and you were worrying, I had to correct and dispel the view that higher decks have more motion sickness vibration etc, that is just simply totally untrue.
If it was, all of the water would poor out of the pools on deck 9, now I have seen it rough and yes the pool water can move on those rare days but it is very interesting that after my post a number of others have now chipped in with agreement that you do feel motion more on lower decks.
Again lots of people love deck 2, and the services of food and entertainment is exactly the same on each Cat up to Cat 4.
But saying the best place to avoid motion sickness is deck true is untrue, I can quote the Magics ships doctor who I saw with my DD, go up higher do not stay down here, and why did they build a medical center down here??
So many threads are started asking this question is deck 2 OK for sickness? no one starts a thread to ask that re deck 5/6/7/8.
The best things are:-
- The middle/middle of the ship is best.
- The top decks do not move more than the lower decks
- Forward is actually the worst place as it takes the impact of the waves.
- Aft gets some but less than Forward.
- For sufferers of seasickness, get fresh air, look at the widest view of the horizon.
- Eat light, lots of water in small amounts.
- No fatty or heavy food.
A veranda if its within your cruise budget will help, but remember most cruises do not have any rough seas so any cabin is OK in those conditions.
On patchs we do not use these, my DD gets bad Seasickness, but trys to stop it using natural methods above, but look at the fighting sesickness thread lots of people have posted their views on that.
