Has anyone every flew into an airport besides MCO?

I heard Orlando Sanford was kind of close. Would it be cheaper to fly into that airport?

There are two questions here. First, which is closer? Answer, Orlando International.

Second, which is cheaper to fly into? Answer, it depends.

Sanford is sometimes cheaper, sometimes not, you will just have to price out your options. Keep in mind transportation cost to/from each airport too. With MCO if you are staying at Disney you get FREE Magic Express, if you fly into Sanford you will need to rent a car or hire a transportation company. Make sure you figure the extra cost of transportation at Sanford when running the numbers.

It depends on the airline you choose, times etc. Just like others said if you are staying onsite you have to factor in getting to Disney. If you are staying offsite I have found good car rental rates at Sanford. I found great fares using Allegiant and going to www.carrentalsavers.com

Direct Air also flies into Lakeland, which is about 40 minutes west of WDW. They have some spectacular rates if you're close to an airport they fly from.
I booked it for our trip in January. I'd so much rather fly from small airport to small airport and avoid the super busy MCO altogether.

That would be awesome if they flew out of Philly or somewhere closer. But...they don't.

I just did this as well for a flight in January...anyone have any experience with this airline or with Lakeland Airport? Wish we could have flown into Sanford just because it seems like a slightly bigger airport with more services, but wasn't an option from where we are flying from...
