A friend of ours is trying to get us to use it. It's free, so thats always good. I am just wondering if you guys have any pro's or cons about it.

Can't say I use it often but it's pretty good! As long as your microphone is decent, it works well.

I love skype. I talk to my property manager in florida and friends and family around the country. Its really convenient to use and saves me alot of phone calls. Try it out and see if you like it, the hardest part though is having other people sign up for it.

We use it all the time. My husband has been working out of town since August, and we keep in touch with Skype. My kids use it daily when they play Webkinz online with their cousins in another province. It's a great way for them to develope a relationship with them, since we only see them every couple of years.

Well, not always. Computer to computer is free. Computer to something else is not free. However, they have a deal right now for $14.95 a year for unlimited calling ANYWHERE, and it doesn't have to be another computer.

I like Skype. Get a good microphone. I also have a webcam and many of ythe people I call have one too. So you get videoconferencing.

Can you recommend a good video camera and mic? My sister gave me a set up but it was buy one, get one free kind of thing :rotfl: It may work ok, but it may not. heheheheee

If I can get the whole stuff set up and working right I want to look into the $14.95 deal. We call Alaska a lot. A lot of family back home. Watch they will consider it a foreign country :lmao: with my luck!

DH had to travel to India last summer and we used it. It was great! Even if we weren't talking, we'd keep it connected so he could hear me putting DD to sleep, I could hear him typing on his computer, etc. It was nice and made it feel like he wasn't half a world away. Even with a good calling plan, calls to India would have been pretty expensive.

Simple, buy a Logitech.... and spend at least $35... I would spend more if it were me, though. And they have built in microphones.

Nope. Alaska included and 1 HOUR of international calling.

I can not believe a decent video camera is down to $40 give or take. I remember the days you were looking at $200+ and eventually it went down to $100+ :lmao:

I'd be happy if Alaska was included.

Do you HAVE to video conference? I was telling my sister (who lives here and wants me to try it out) I do not want to be looking at her ugly mug if I don't have to. Nor do I want people looking at me all the time.

One of my best friends moved to Australia last winter and just sent me an email asking me to download Skype! I'm happy to read so many good things about it. :thumbsup2

My son is using it while he is in London for a year abroad. It is good. He pays $0.023 per minute when he calls us but it is free when we call him. I think that we paid a small fee to set this up. Sometimes, the sound quality is bad.
