Has anyone ever used a Disney travel agent? Universal question too

I have booked all 5 trips we (myself, hubby and 2 girls, who will be 13 and 10 on our next trip) have taken to Disneyworld myself. Easy peasy. Im a planner so I love doing all of that. We have always taken advantage of the Fall free dining. We are planning another trip for the end of Aug/Sept in 2019. We are planning on going for 9 nights, 10 days, and we only do 4-5 days at the parks. We like to R&R by the pool and love going to Downtown Disney (still cant bring myself to call it Disney Springs)

However, I came upon a blog on pinterest about a Disney travel agency (not sure if I am allowed to post their name) **name removed** that has exclusive deals for Deluxe resorts - mid august to beginning of Sept - which is when we usually go. We have only ever stayed at moderate resorts, just wondering what your thoughts are? Have you ever used a Disney travel agent? I am still waiting for a quote, but from what I read, I would pay less for a deluxe than a moderate through them.

Do you have a favorite deluxe? We really prefer a more adult/quiet atmosphere - with smaller pools around the resort as well as the main pool.

Also, we are driving this year for the second time (ugh) so we thought we would try Universal studios, we have never been. Do you think we should split up our stay and stay a few nights at a universal resort? I was thinking of only going for 1 or 2 days to that park.

Any tips, advice would be appreciated.

One thing i can say is mentioning that specific travel agent on the boards, even in your mildly hidden manner, is a big no-no! I've seen a few people get banned from the boards for repeated attempts. You can read about this here:

If you're looking at staying at a deluxe resort and wanting to save money why not look at renting DVC points to stay at one of those deluxe resorts?? You can get great rates and still be in complete control of your trip like you are used to -- same benefits as if you booked directly. There are a few Canadian members who rent points, there's an entire forum for it OR even a company that rents points that is based out of London ON so covered by TICO -- David's DVC

Only Deluxe I have stayed at was Yacht Club, it was amazing. I have never stayed at a moderate though. POP and Art of Animation are my other resort stays. I am going to try Beach Club next May (fingers crossed at this point, still have to book it). We loved the proximity to Epcot, and stormalong bay is great, my kiddo loved the water slide, I thought it was ok (i'm not big on water slides though!) The room was great and everything was pretty. I liked that it was all one building, we only went outside for the pool (and of course to catch the bus to the parks). The boat to Hollywood Studios was fun as well, and we took it to Epcot once (kiddo loves boats) but walking was easy as well. I'd say it could depend on which parks you enjoy most. If you go during Food and Wine, an Epcot resort would be nice

The travel agent I think you are talking about - yes, I've used them once. Just for a room only for a mod which was less than any other discounts out there. A friend of mine has used them the last few years in the time frame you are looking and has gotten great deals at the Yacht Club and Poly. They also have convention priced tickets they are able to add to their packages, which helps to make them cheaper. Some packages you can add the dining plan, some you can't.
The thing with booking with them vs renting DVC points is you aren't usually able to cancel. The TA rooms you could, up to 5 days I think it was.

Yes we used them for a great deal on BC at the end of Aug 2015 before we bought into DVC. Great experience.
