Has anyone ever tried or know of anyone who has tried Lucinda Bassett's Anxiety Prog?

I am really tempted to buy this program off of ebay. It is rather high though, like $175 dollars. It is called Attacking Anxiety and its by Lucinda Bassett. I hate these stupid panic attacks and am at the point that I would do almost anything if I thought it would work. So, has anyone tried these, or does anyone know anyone who has tried them? I would love any input. I don't want to be on Paxil for the rest of my life. Thanks!

No, I haven't tried it. But if you get any private responses, PLEASE share. Mine are started to come back & it's driving me crazy. I thought I had them under control (without meds).

Due to circumstances at work, I really want to quit my job -- but my attacks are holding me back from trying to find another job. I feel trapped & it's not helping.

Panic attacks are the worst!!

Beauty, are you in therapy? I have anxiety/depression and have for years and years. I've gone off meds completely and am doing pretty well. Couldn't have done it without my therapist...

Another helpful thing is to find a support group of like-minded people. I have an anxiety group that pulls me up when I'm falling. Good luck!

I'm not in therapy wish I was and had a support group but where I live isn't in the fore front of medical care and help. I have gone to a pshy. twice and neither of them were any help. I felt really stupid for even being there. I watched this infomercial about Lucinda's program last night and then pulled it up on ebay today where I could get it for probably half price. I am at the point to where I am ready to try anything. I am sick and tired of taking the Paxil. Its been almost 10 years now!! I'm tired of the fatigue and the sleeping etc. etc. that the anxiety and depression bring on and I'm ready to get my life back! I'm ready to be active and be involved in things. I'm sure you both know exactly what I'm talking about!!

Beth,
No, I haven't but I have watched the infomercial and thought--that is me!
I have, however, read her book. I am not sure what it is called. My neighbor has it right now. It was very good and she is helpful, I think.
I was reading in O magazine this month about relaxation/anxiety and the different drugs that you can take for it.
Usually I am not anxiety ridden every day. (I may have a bad spell for several days where I am all keyed up) but mostly, for me, it is situations that cause the panic to come. Such as flying, riding in a car(esp. in the back) or a bus. I suppose that is all about not being in control. And I don't like to go out to eat very much. I can go & feel fine when I get there & be 1/2 way through a meal and this feeling of doom washes over me & I want to just leave the place before I get sick (I have never been sick though--but I feel sick). So, as I was reading the article it sounded like xanax was the right thing for me to be taking because it is mostly for situations & works within 20 mins. Paxil was something to take for generalized anxiety disorder. Take it everyday and I suppose it builds up in your system or something and works in a different way. Although I am very afraid of the xanax becasue of addiction, I know that since I push myself to do things w/o any most of the time, I think I can avoid becoming addicted. I have had the same prescription for about 3 years ( I asked the doctor if it was still OK to take & he said yes, fine) & it works the same as always. All of this runs in my family so I am not alone in the fight of this.
I do agree with SplashMtn99-- panic attacks are the worst.
Let me know what you decide about the tapes. I would be interested to know also. Good luck.

Brenda,
Hi...what you described about going out to eat is me to a "t". I have no idea why! When we get there or are deciding to go I'm fine but then either before the meal comes or half way through the panic hits...I either get really hot and have to leave or feel sick. Its weird!! I also have the Xanax and try very hard to only take it when I absolutly think I have to for panic but the Paxil I have been on for ever (10 yrs). I am really tempted if I can find it for about $100 dollars. It seems like a dream to live panic free.

I also have wondered about this program. I do not have "generalized" anxiety, but I do get VERY anxious riding AND driving a car. Sometimes it is worse than others. And it makes me CRAZY thinking about my kids driving. I have barely allowed them to drive anywhere but in our community. It is TERRIBLE!!!
I am afraid that one day I will not go anywhere where I will have to get into a car. I really need help, but I don't know if there is any help out there for anything so specific. It really makes me sad. :(
I would love to know if this program would be helpful for me...

I get really nervous in a car too. When we are leaving for Disney the whole entire ride I am scared to death for no reason at all. Then when we get there I'm okay. Its so weird. I have 2 of these bookmarked on ebay and if I win I would be happy to copy the tapes for anyone that is interested. I will let you all know.

I have a friend who did her tapes and loved it. She said it gave her ways to deal with the attacks rather than just give into them. She is going to send them to me when she thinks she can live w/o them. She says they're writed protected so couldn't copy them. She said they changed her life. She lives across the country from me, and I haven't seen her since she started these, so I can't truly say there's a difference, but she swears by them. She is now off meds and can go about her business w/o being afraid she'll be paralyzed with fear or anxiety about something. She says the attacks aren't totally gone, but when they come (which are fewer and fewer) she can deal with them.

Hope this helps.
