Has anyone ever thought of monitoring DING fares for others for a service fee?

I know that this is totally OT and sort of a crazy idea, but has anyone ever thought of setting up a service to monitor DING fares for other disers (for a fee, of course).

Ex. I am going to be on holidays this summer (and without access to a computer) on the exact same date that an amazing BUF-MCO DING was offered during summer 2005.

This is a family girl guide camp that is only offered once per year (and same dates each year) so I can't go any other time.
Due to the possibility of a ding that week, I am considering not going. But we have gone every year for a few years and the kids would be so upset if we didn't go.
Due to missing this DING last year, I was stressed for several weeks until it came up again.

I have friends/family who I could leave my credit card info. with but they just don't get DING like so many disers on this board do.

But by setting up a serivce like this, there would have to be a ton of trust, especially by the person who would be giving the fellow diser their credit card number, so perhaps this service wouldn't be feasible.

I was just thinking about the on line service that will provide you with a SWA boarding pass and it got me thinking about a similar service to ensure DING fares.

Wow Suzy, you'd actually consider dissapointing your kids for a Ding?

I think you're obsessing quite a bit, considering after you pay someone out a fee for a $59 (for example), you're back paying Air Tran prices ($79.00 each way) for Southwest.

Sure, it's a great savings, but have you heard of seat sales on Jet Blue? Air Tran? Ted?

Last year DSis and I flew Air Tran. Yes, we missed the DING, but we booked ages before the DING came in, and we were satisfied with the price. I think that that is the key. Book a price that you can live with, and don't look anymore! Heck, for the sake of 50 bucks, we were settled. A little nervous about Atlanta-which was a breeze-but we didn't have to sit at the computer worrying about missing the DING.

I think that's true for us too. I book when I see a good seat sale come up for a specific trip we have planned and if a DING comes along at a later date then I'll go for it and have a credit to use later.

I think DING is great if you are flexible on your dates but if you can only go at a specific time then I wouldn't trust waiting for the perfect DING to come along. It would be just too stressful for me! :headache:

On the other hand DING has caused us to take spur of the moment, long weekend trips. :rotfl2:
