They prescribed this to me on Monday for a kidney infection. I feel worse now on this medicine than I did before I was diagnosed!! So blah and achy.:(

Maybe it's the weather! :p

but you still look good, thats the important thing ;)

No, I haven't. I hope you get to feeling better, E. I've heard Orlando is a good place to recover for any illness.;)

DS8 was put on it for his kidney problems when he was younger. It was BAD for him. He had such a horrible time they finally took him off of it (ok, I admit, I took him off of it BEFORE the doctor told me I could, but I couldn't stand to see him going through it any longer!)

My mom took it for a urinary tract infection and one of the common side effects of the medication is flu-like symptoms.

Yes, but discovered I am very allergic.
Thankfully there are newer meds available.
Hope you feel better soon.

It sounds like the cure feels worse than the problem. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Yes I was on it one time when I had a UTI and the doctor was afraid it had spread to my kidneys. It was the worst antibiotic I was ever on. The problem is because it's so strong even with food it will upset your tummy.

Yup, I also took it for a few days for a UTI. Didn't have any problems with it (other than the size and taste -- too big for me to swallow so I had to cut it into quarters), but it also didn't work on me.

Try eating some active culture yogurt. It helps replace the bacteria in your intestines that the Cipro kills off.

I've taken Cipro before but the only effects I remember were the stomach problems and the yogurt seemed to help with that.

Just make sure you monitor those side effects and speak with a pharmacist if you feel too bad or odd.
I know quite a few folks that had horrible reactions to it. My sis had the shootings pains in the leg and lethargy. Wasn't pretty.

That's interesting that you would mention shooting pains in the leg, MM because the last couple of days my left leg near the knee has been killing me!

I would just think having been on these pills since Monday that my original kidney symptoms would have gone away but they're still here along with these other side effects!

Kitty,

Please call your dr.! I have read too many bad reactions to Cipro.

yes, but the only bad reaction i had was stomach problems. i took 2 acidophilus pills/day and it helped.

yep, and within minutes I discovered I'm allergic!

Well, can I join you in your misery? I'm currently taking my second course of Cipro for UTI, blader, kidney??? infection. I have horrible abdomenal and back pain as well as feeling plain blucky. I've been to several doctors recently (I keep bouncing back and forth between primary and gyn...) and they can't figure out what is wrong with me (I also have missed two cycles but after 8 pregnancy tests I can safely say that I'm not expecting). I'm getting an abdomenal cat scan on wednesday, so hopefully they can pinpoint the problem then.

I was told that Cipro was what they were treating Anthrax with, so to my suprise I was prescribed that a year ago.

The reason why it was prescribed to me was because I went down to Mexico and came back very very sick (no I didn't drink the water or have ice cubes or anything rinsed in the water, I was very careful). It turns out that I had ecoli and the doc prescibed cipro to me. My tummy was already upset so I didn't think the cipro was all that bad, atleast it seemed to work for me. There was other prescribed drugs that I was taking that helped with the vomiting and other things.

Cipro was very expensive for me.

For me is was a wonder drug. I had some sort of intestinal infection which caused major stomach pains and bleeding. I guess I would have missed if it caused stomach aches because nothing could be as bad as what it was prescribed to stop. It REALLY works.

I've been on it every year for the past 3 winters. I get horrible sinus infections as soon as the AC goes off in the Fall. The first year (coincidentially 2001) it worked wonders. This past winter it did little good. THe only thing that helped was the week I spent at WDW. (Told DH we need to move for health reasons. ::yes:: )
