Has anyone ever taken an "internet" break?

I'm not talking about the DIS specifically. Just a break from logging on daily...even a break from email. It seems I get a little too caught up in it at times. I know I make my son take breaks (sometimes even up to a week or more) from playing video games and I'm wondering if taking an internet break would be a good idea??

yep Ive had to do that sometimes, especially when I get over involved with a converstaion or argument.

Its had now though most of my work is online so I cant really avoid it anymore. I could take a break from the boards, buts that a lot harder for me than just walking away from the computer alltogether.

I take breaks every weekend when I stay at my boyfriends house, unless we're checking movie times or something.
It's kind of relaxing not being on the computer all the time! hahaha If I find I'm staying on for more than an hour or two, I shut the thing off and go read a book.

I try every once in a while. I think it's a great idea. Well, I wouldn't want to write it off completely since I pay bills on here, keep track of my finances & chores, etc. But... the message boards I really could do without for a while.

I've recently started setting my timer to 15 minutes when I sign on, but it's just so easy to cheat.

Last summer, I logged on about 4 times the whole season.

It was my first summer at home with my child, and I wasn't going to spend it wrapped up in the computer.

Nearly everyday my son and I did something. If not the town pool, we went swimming at friends' houses. Or we went to the beach or an amusement park.

The scary thing is when I started logging on again in October, it's as though nothing in the DIS universe really changed much.

I've changed, though. I am past the point of caring how others on these boards view me or what they say about me.

I am very secure in the knowledge that I am a decent person. I'm not perfect by a longshot, but I know I try my best everyday to be a good cyber-friend, mother, wife, employee, real life friend, aunt, sister, daughter-in-law, etc. And I think "try" is all anyone can really do.

I sure do. Sometimes I just don't feel like being on the computer, and it usually lasts a few days or more. Then when I come back, I'm ready to go!:D

Everytime I'm on vacation I do. I don't own a laptop and the last time I tried to use one of those internet kiosks at WDW it was just 5 minutes of frustration.

The first couple days I'm all freaked out and then I relax. Life does go on and continues quite well without the internet.

On a five month break right now. Might as well end it with this thread.....

Oh Pat what a beatiful baby.

Please log on now and then, I love to see your pictures!

I can see why you have less time now, those pesky little ones seem to take up all your free time!

Yes, I'll be taking one starting Friday morning! I think there is a countdown to my break in my siggie! ;) :teeth:

I try to not use the computer at all on Saturdays.

I'm a webmaster for the copany I work for, so not using the Internet during M-F would be rather impossible. Sundays I often ahve to work for a few hours as well. So I try to take Saturdays off. I've also taken breaks from the DIS a few times.
