It's just so hard to leave once we get down there! We're thinking about booking 2 weeks at Christmas this year Dec. 20 to Jan. 3. We just got back and bought an annual pass so I thought we might as well get the most out of it. Since the kids are still young, 7 and 9 we're still able to take advantage of kids' prices!

I know it's crowded at Christmastime but I thought if we're there for 2 weeks, we'll be less rushed and able to do things at a more leisurely pace.

Has anyone else done this before?

Deb

We have never done that yet but oh would I love to do it:) Christmas is crowded and New Years is worse but with planning you can do it:thumbsup2

Close, 9 days this past Christmas. If you want less of the crowds plan a little earlier in the month. We were there 18th - 26th and really noticed a sharp spike in the crowds starting the 22nd. Up til that point longest wait for anything was about 10 minutes even without fast passes. Be sure to make ADR's , MVMCP and Candlelight Processional well in advance if needed.

We stayed for 2 weeks in Oct/Nov 2006 and it was wonderful! We never felt like we were ready to go home after our usual 7 or 8 day stays so we decided to try 2 weeks. We had a great time and by the time our two weeks were up we felt like we had had our fill of WDW until our next annual trip so it was much easier to pack up and go home. :)

Yes we stayed for two weeks last Oct at SSR and are back at AKV in May for 15 nights followed by 4 nights at VB :goodvibes It is so much more relaxing being there for 2 weeks :)

Claire ;)

I think the longest we've ever stayed at one trip is 5 weeks. But that's not continuously at the same resort. Generally we do a resort for 5 nights, then somewhere else for the weekend (off-site, with relatives in FL, or at one of the regular WDW hotel resorts. Hate paying those high weekend point rates)

If we go off-site for the weekend, that's when we like to do US/IoA, or SW.

Then we'll do the next week at a different DVC resort, and repeat. I think the longest we've gone without checking out and changing resorts, is 12 nights.

Your are officially my hero Caskbill :yay:

Our max has been 11 nights and they still had to drag us kicking & screaming onto the plane.
Unfortunately we only own enough points for a 1 week stay each year so in order to do 2 weeks we would have to borrow which means the next year we would probably be selling a kidney to go again.

A couple of years ago we went for 10 nights. (in our pre DVC life) This summer, we will be at AKV for 11 nights. So we are getting closer to two weeks!

checked in 12/24 2006 and out 1/4/2007 so the 11 nights 12 days was the lognest for us. That included checking out for the weekend and back in NYE. We did our off site things and TL the Saturday we were offsite. It was wonderful and I would do it again if I can get some of the family to go along.

We do 2 weeks every May and every October. We do a week late January/early February and 10+ days in late August. We have been doing 2 weeks in May for 10+ years. (BTW: I get alot of vacation days.)

We did 2 weeks last year and will do 2 weeks this year - but we break it up w/VB in the middle! :thumbsup2

I'm sure 2 weeks at WDW would be great - but I could not take knowing Vero was just two short hours away..................

We'll be doing 12 nights in November, a split stay between 2 resorts (hopefully) with the weekend off-site or at another Disney resort. Have never done more than 7 nights before.

Have not done two consecutive weeks but at least one of our trips each year is the 12 night period from a Sun arrival to a Friday departure -- its a points thing, you are only two nights short of two weeks and you are not reserving for the additional Friday and Saturday night it would take for two weeks. It is less demanding when you are there that long because you don't feel any need to rush out and do anything (although we often end up doing less park visits than if we go a week because we never get around to rushing out and doing anything at all when there for 12 nights and kind of forget that we eventually have to leave). I am not sure I would do it at Christmas because I am not sure I would want to spend that much time there when the crowds are huge everywhere everyday (you just spend more time moving about anywhere and you can get lenghty delays at restaurants, both as to sitting down and speed of service once down, even when you have a ressie). I can do that for a week but probably not two.

we almost always stay for 10+ days - mostly 12 days but a few times we've been there for 14 days.

we only get a 10 day pass and only do one park a day - but that gives us plenty of time to go in the morning then back to the resort for some swimming or checking out other resorts, going to DTD, etc.

we never feel rushed

our next trip is going to be either 12 or 14 days depending if we do concierge level

and although i'd love to stay at all the dvc's we'll do it one at a time - i don't really want to check in, unpack, pack, check out, check in, unpack, pack, check out..... in one trip just to stay at 2 or 3 resorts while down there.

we often have dinner at other resorts even on park days just because we want to explore and then we decide if it's worth staying at the next time.

We are doing a 12 day split stay for the July 4ht holiday this year.

We will be at BWV until the 5th then to AKV for the rest and DM and DsF are coming down on the 6th until the 11th.Dd is bring a friend this trip so I might have to send them to DMs room for a few nights.

And my DsF that will hanging at the Pool most of the trip (not a ride person) is also an ED so yes it's a very small world.

The longest we have done is 11 nights so far. but this summer we are doing 19 days!! I can't wait! 8 nights BCV and 11 nights AKV Savannah view! I figure by then we will (maybe) ready to come home....

Hi We have done the two week trip for the past 4 years-we just came back on the 9th and we arrived on Dec. 26th. Yes the parks are busy but we have learned to be there for openings, it's amazing what you can get accomplished before the crowds start. We always head back to our resort for the afternoon and often came back in the evening-especially if it's EMH at MK. Our boys (now 10 & 11) have wonderful memories, from each year. We are already planning for our First Christmas there. We will be going from the 21-4th since our oldest son will be starting junior high this fall and doesn't want to miss school start up in January. It's a wonderful, beautiful and exciting time to be there and we often split our stay between two resorts and get to enjoy a week+ at each spot.

We often do 10-12 mights, but never more than 12 consecutive with one ressie, because we don't like to pay two sets of weekend points. Our norm is 11 nights. We also like to go at least twice a year, so going at holiday times, while busy, isn't too bad if your second trip is in a lower crowd time.
