Some friends of mine are going to meet us at DL and they're thinking of booking the Fairfield Inn on South Harbor Blvd. Is that a reasonable place? Is the walking distance okay?

Here is one of the posts I found in search...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2596990&highlight=fairfield+inn
Here would be another..http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2545932&highlight=fairfield+inn+review

I may be wrong but I think GRANDBOB did a review on this place.

We liked it very well - nice rooms, comfy beds, good location and McDonalds is in the parking lot! There is even a pretty good view of the park and fireworks from the upper floors.

We have stayed at a bunch of other places and would never recommend them - but, we liked the Fairfield Inn.

We've stayed there 4-5 times. It's still our favorite outside of the Disney Hotels.

It's a 5 minute walk to the Disneyland entrance.

The beds are latex and super comfortable... we bought a latex bed after finding out what Marriott uses.

If important to you the internet is rock solid all the time.

There is a daily parking few but in the past they had a 'off-hotel' parking area that was free.

Just back from a stay there with my girl scout troop. We all loved it! Nice lobby, onsite pizza hut express (which was great for tween girls), recently remodeled so nicer bedding and large flat screen TVs than I remember when we stayed before. They now have theme rooms but even the non theme rooms have nice disney touches like art work. We always request a room facing harbor so we are facing the action vs. the parking lot/ freeway. They have always met this request.

The 2 queen rooms also have a small sleeper chair that sleeps 1 so would be great for a family of 5 not wanting 2 rooms. For the 1st time, we had rooms on the building side that runs against the pool. The rooms here felt a bit larger on this side than in the main building but that may be because of the remodel and new furniture. There is a fridge but no in room safe. I really liked it, especially the new remodeled room feel and layout and this one is definitely back on our list for places to stay on harbor.

We stayed there 4 years ago and everything was great except for the fact we got stuck in the elevator, my daughter was so scared we had to climb the stairs for the rest of the trip (we were on the top floor). I wouldn't stay there again unless I called to see how the elevator was operating. We were told 4 years ago that this was a regular occurance.

I forgot, we also didn't like the location of the pool, I felt like I was swimming in the parking lot.

Isn't the pool on a roof of one of the buildings?

I'm not sure we've ever used it but it seemed to be in a nicer location then most of the harbor hotels where the pool IS in the parking lot.

Non descript pool is in the Parking Lot, AndyLL. :)

I agree with all the posts above. Good place, Good location (7 min. walk), Good rooms, next to McDs is good. Good beds (the fold out chair is a hit for the 7-11 y/o kid), Overall a good hotel & a good value. So I think it's a GOOD choice ;).

But....this Fairfield is a lousy use of Marriot rewards points. Better to pay for the room than use up LEVEL FIVE points that could be used at exclusive upscale locales.

:)

I was just saying I would rather swim at Camelot or Carousel Inn since I don't look like a swimsuit model.

Honestly, at a hotel pool, I try not to stress too much about how I look in my bathing suit. I figure no one's looking at me. ;)

We stayed there in 1998, and we paid ~ $42/night! It is well located, but I think the price is high. I checked rates for the last week in September. The lowest rate at the Fairfield Inn is $116. I can stay at the Marriott at the Convention Center or the Courtyard for $98/night, and the AAA rate at the Best Western Park Place Inn is $89.10 with continental breakfast.

I chose none of the above, and will stay at the Red Lion Inn (just south of Katella) at the AAA rate of $76.50/night.

My group and I are staying there for our trip next week and I definitely plan to post a detailed review. :goodvibes

The elevator wasn't working the time we were there. Strange. Note to traveller's....Stay away from elevator.

Other than that the beds were very comfortable, the walking distance was great, Mcdonalds in the lot, pizza hut express in the building, and pool was so so. I would stay again. If I had the choice I would probably go HOJO or BWPPI.
