I've heard it mentioned before both by friends and on this board, but no one that actually said yes, they got it or knew someone personally. Is it very likely? or just a rumor?

I take my own comb/pick and make sure that it is used :)

2 cruises and no lice for the dd 9. both times at CC. the braiders in CC use the blue liquid that barbers use. You can always bring your own comb and brush.

Eva at CC was great! DD is wearing the corn rows and braids from 2 weeks ago. DD only winced twice.

I've read that getting your hair braided in the ports is iffy.

I actually have gotten my hair braided on CC and at Nassau....and ive done it many times at nassau...and no lice....but thats before anything was said about hairbraiding on CC....i now wait it out and would get it down at CC but its fine getting it done on the islands...also...i actually felt more pain and tugging from the women at CC...maybe due to alot of girls waiting and they were rushing...but way more painful than at nassau...just my opinion!!:Pinkbounc

My 3 girls have had their hair braided in St Maarten (by Tracy) twice and no problems. They never cried (and they were little) and the braids stayed very nice for about 4 weeks.

My daughter had her hair braided in St. Maarten. No lice, it probably would have been a good idea to take your own comb but I wasn't to worried. Lice can't take much heat, in fact one way of making sure pillows and stuffed animals are lice free is to set them in the summer sun for several hours. Ive also heard that people who dry thier hair with hair dryers are not likely to get them because of the heat. The islanders are certainly cheaper than DCL.:sunny:

What does Disney charge for hair braiding? I had my two DD's hair braided in Nassau three years ago. It was $75 if I remember correctly. I don't like how some of the islanders harrass you about braiding. If it's not too high, we'll do the braids on the ship or castaway cay.

On the ships it's $2 per braid for corn rows. I'm not sure about loose braids, though.

We are staying at Caribean Beach Resort at Disney before our cruise. I thought I saw somewhere that they have a hair braiding place there? I might give that a try. If you take your own comb, what kind of comb? Just those little ones like they used to give out on picture day at school, or just whatever kind you have? Silly question I guess. I just didn't want to hand them a huge comb, and it be difficult for them to use with such little braids. Just wondering what kind they use.

I paid close to a hundred dollars on CC for just the cornrows....not even my whole head....so if your thinking about getting your whole head done...bring alot lol

I am a Hairdresser. Just make sure that you either take your own comb/pick/brush or make sure that they are using a new one. The blue solution is fine for sanitizing, but the combs need to be in there at least 20 min. You can't just rinse the comb in the solution. Also make sure that the hairdresser washes her hands before she starts your daughter. She probably just had her hands in someone elses hair. Lice does not jump, but can be transfered from comb to hair, hand to hair, object to hair like a hat, pillow etc. and hair to hair if your hair comes in contact with their hair. This is only if the other person has it. If you are dealing with a reputable company as Disney is I am sure they are professional about their sanitation practices. Don't worry and have fun the girls will love the braids. Brenda

I negotiated the price BEFORE they did any braiding. I paid $20 per head. it took awhile to get to that price but I was willing to walk away (plenty of other chances if they say 'no' - ship, CC....) They had cornrows to the headband line and braided the remainder with beads at the ends. I loved having it done early so the rest of the week their hair was ADORABLE and out of their faces! They each had about 12-15 rows.

leslierx- we stayed at the Caribbean Beach 3 yrs. ago, but they only had hair wrapping at the time. Maybe things have changed!! :wave2:

Hi Bruce. How much did it cost for the hair braiding on the ship or on CC? Thanks.

On the ship, it's $1 per braid and $2 per cornrow. My daughter had 6 braids and we paid $6 plus tip.

How much does it cost to get your whole head done onboard or at CC? I want to do it early in the trip. Does anyone have pics? Thanks,
