Has anyone ever got a "Great Deal" on their cruise?

Another who took advantage of a 10 day Med cruise in 2010. $999 per person for two adults! What I wouldn't do for another $100 a day cruise!

I focus more in getting a great OBC. There haven't been great deals since the "Kids Sail Free" days.

We did get a $1000 stateroom credit on our 12 night Mediterranean and Greek Isles cruise this summer. Disney gave us that after they changed the original itinerary to drop all stops in Greece, Turkey and Malta.

In December 2014 we got a DVC member price of $2500 for three adults in a verandah on a 7 day Magic cruise. DCL was actually offering special pricing for DVC members on several cruises in November and December 2014.

We got a great deal on the final Alaska cruise in 2013, a VGT rate of $2,500 for 7 nights.
I had been watching the prices and the price was close to $5,000 before they discounted it.

I got my October 7 night VGT for 2900 for 2 adults. I didn't think that was bad at all.

We saved 17.6% off standard DCL rates on our Eastern Caribbean last October by booking onboard (10%) and using the Raise/Target/Disney gift card trick. I thought that was a great deal.

Unfortunately they've eliminated the Raise/Target/Disney gift card trick as you can no longer buy Disney gift cards with Target gift cards. :(

I had one 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise one January that had an onboard booking discount that brought the price to around $750 for me solo. Plus, it was when the shipboard credit was tiered by castaway level, so I had a $350 (?) Obc all for myself!

I book the Walt Royal on the Dream Nov 2012, one month before sailing 2A 2K for a 3 day for $3000. $250 per person per day. A good deal for the new royal.

We booked in Sept. 2013,the last Alaskan cruise for 2A 1C for a rate of $1989.00 USD. (IGT rate)
We were upgraded to an ocean view room on deck 6! What a deal!!!:o

2007, a 7 night Eastern on The Magic, first week of December it was 500/person for a cat 12. DH and I had a blast and made so many friends.
2012, a 5 night Canadian from NYC on The Magic, last cruise in NYC 550/person for an IGT, we were in a cat 11, but we ummm...upgraded at the Port to The Roy Suite.
The best deal of all, about 1/2 the cost if we had booked it ahead of time.

Deals used to be there

We scored a great deal on a 4 day Dream cruise leaving on November 17, 2013. This was booked last minute at about two weeks out. It was a non-refundable, Florida Resident rate that required full payment at the time of booking. When we booked we had a choice of an inside or a veranda, but could not pick our cabin. If memory servers it was about $100 total more for the veranda. We went with the veranda and less then 24 hours later were assigned cabin 9022 which is a cat 5B. We paid $1100 at booking for 2 adults and 1 child who was 10 at the time.

Then when checking in I inquired about paying for an upgrading. For an additional $800. So a total of $1900 we were able to upgrade to a cat T and lucked out being placed in cabin 12000. Talk about being spoiled. Best Vacation ever!

Now I have kids in High School and Middle School. Gone are the days of being able to escape in the off season, at least for now. I look forward to the days when life no longer revolves around school schedules. Yet, I'm doubtful I will ever score a deal like this again. I'm grateful that I was able to have an experience as nice as this at least once because it was so sweet!

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]A few years ago, my husband and I got a military discount for a Category 4 A deluxe verandah cabin for a 7 night Western cruise on the Fantasy. It was $100 per person per night. $1400 for two for an entre week. I doubt I'll ever see anything like that again.

Sorry...newbie question...what is GT and VGT?
Discounted rates sometimes released after final payment date. GT = Guarantee VGT = Verandah Guarantee. In exchange for the discounted rate you do not get to pick your cabin, but are guaranteed at least the class you paid for, and sometimes get bumped to a better one. Sometimes you end up in the less-desirable rooms for that class though, where engine noise may be louder, or close to the kids clubs.

We just got off the Magic and paid $2100 for two people for a 7 day Mediterranean cruise. We booked IGT about 90 days before the cruise. We were updated to an oceanview room, the one with the two small port holes. It was awesome. Also we just used a placeholder to book a Norwegian Fjords cruise and it ended up being about 300 cheaper than we thought it would be per person.

Ha when I used to be a TA back in the day they would offer us really good last minute deals - DH and I did a 7 night for $25/night per person. With tax/port charges etc it was around $300 per person for the week. We spend more living at home in a week lol....

Odd thing is, we did -- which I never thought I would say about DCL pricing! But our pricing for the WBTA in 2017 is actually less than it was in 2007 -- and it was for three adults and the exact same stateroom. So 10 years later we are paying thousands less. Granted, next year's cruise is 3 nights shorter and doesn't stop at CC, but still - that's a heck of a savings 10 years later. My TA said it was because some itineraries like TA and PC don't sell as well, so Disney started them out at lower prices this time around. Worked for us!

We received an incredible deal on our EBTA in 2013. Booked a Cat 5 for our family of 4 for $5200. Then right before our PIF date they released military rates which dropped our price to $3800.
