has anyone ever used their points to exchange out to sanibel/captiva island? If not can you reccomend a great place to stay?

thank you!

We have not done an exchange to Sanibel/Captiva but we have visited there 3 times. All three times we stayed on Sanibel. The best place that we stayed at is called Sundial Beach Resort. The resort consists of condos with either 1 or 2 bedrooms. It is right on the beach and has lots of activities. If you want any other information, let me know.
We love this area and wish that there were a DVC there.

Last year, I put in a request with MS for an exchange into any of the Sanibel resorts. But unfortunately, I was very limited as to when I could travel. So after several months, I dropped the request and used points to go to Hawaii instead. That was a great trip, so I was happy with that decision.

I love Sanibel! It's so beautiful. I travel down to the Ft. Myers area pretty much every year. But we usually stay beachfront on Ft. Myers Beach because it's generally less expensive than staying on Sanibel. We take day trips over to Sanibel and enjoy it that way.

By the way, 2 years ago I decided to go look at all the places on Sanibel where a DVC member could trade for a stay. I concluded that I would have been perfectly happy with any of them, although a couple places would have been my top choices. Of course, that was only judging from the outside! ;)

I own 3 weeks on Sanibel/Captiva. 1 at Hurricane House which is my favorite, 2 at Plantation Beach Club at South Seas on Captiva. I would think South Seas would be fairly easy to trade into because it is so large. If you are interested in renting, the Chamber of Commerce could send you info, plus put your name on a list they give their members and you would get mailings from everything to motels, condos, and private homes. We have been going to San/Cap for 29 years and love it. If I were renting I would look for a place on West Gulf Drive, the shelling is better and the beach is not crowded.

Thank you all for the suggestions as to where to stay when we visit odds are we wouldnt use our points anyway ( even though it doesnt seem an easy trade to make!)

Thanks!

My daughter just spent 6 weeks on Sanibel volunteering at a wonderful Wildlife Re-habilitation clinic (C.R.O.W).They do so much for animals, local and from other places, most brought in with injuries caused by man, sadly. They are totally reliant on donations of money and time that people may offer.
Anyway, I digress, it's a beautiful island and South Seas Plantation Resort on the northern tip of Captiva is lovely! There are wonderful cruises you can do from the resort marina and it's huge, so there are many types of accomodations available.
:D

My DH had a business meeting at the Plantation Resort. By the time that he got approval, it was sold out so we stayed at the "Tween Waters Inn." It was nice, and they had the absolute best assortment of breakfast pastries that I've ever had.

It's a great destination. I'd like to go back one day.

That's a tough trade for winter, off season should be easier. Look for a direct exchange, you should do ok. Regardless start at least 1 year in advance, preferably 2.
