Has anyone ever done laundry before???

Just want to add we never bring beach towels - they have them at the resorts and water parks.

Pea-n-me congrats on the breast cancer survival. i was talking to one of my friends today who is celebrating her 5 year anniversary from breast cancer

We're DVC members. That means we have a washer and dryer in the room. Makes doing laundry easier, so you can bet we always do it at least a couple of times while at WDW. Sometimes we start a load before we go to bed and then finish up before breakfast in the morning.

If you have to do laundry in the resort laundry room, for heaven's sake get your DH to help out. It's more fun when you share with a partner. ;)

I did our laundry in the middle of our last trip because we went for 18 days and I didn't pack that many articles of clothing for us all. But I did it on the day I was to pick up my DGM at the airport in the afternoon. So in the morning I headed to the laundry room and DH and DD headed to the pool for the afternoon! I also did the night before we left so I wouldn't have to when I got home just unpack and put it all away nice and clean. I personally bring my own soap because I'm allergic to most soaps. It was a nice laundry facility there was a TV in there to keep me busy and lots of folding room!

Thank you!! Congratulations to your friend, too. :goodvibes

Didn't want to do laundry, but my husband never packs enough underwear and socks. So, yes, I did laundry at POR. Went running, swimming, and showere to pass the time. Very convenient. I don't plan on packing as much this trip so I took home TOO much clean laundry last time!

We just got back from the Pop Century and I did have to do one load of laundry. I had to buy the detergent and fabric softner down there and everything ended up costing about $6.00. I hated to do it but I had too. Hope you have a great trip whether you have to do laundry or not.

I packed tide tablets and dryer sheets. Laundry at Pop was $2.00 per wash and 30 minute dry. I did two loads while we were there.

I have done laundry on our last two trips- because they were 12 days and 10 days and no WAY was I going to bring enough clothing, underwear, socks, etc. for everyone for all those days! Plus the thought of taking that much dirty clothes home with me- ugh!
At ASSP and ASMO it was $2 per loud to wash, same to dry. I didn't stay up late to do it though- I just used our pool time wisely. I like the front loading washing machine.. it's my favorite. :)

Both times I brought my own laundry detergent just enough to use while there, bounce fabric softener sheets and the "color grabber" sheets (whatever they are called) this last time... the first time I didn't bring them and a red tiny kid shirt got in with the underwear. DH wasn't happy about having pink underwear. LOL

We always do laundry also. And I must add that the laundry rooms at WDW resorts are always very clean and very rarely are there any machines not working.

The worst laundry room I have ever since, however, was at the Dolphin. It was DISGUSTINGLY dirt! :sad2: Washing machines were over flowing onto the floor, the laundry sink was stopped up and from the looks of it it had been stopped up for a very long time :scared1: Trash, trash, trash everywhere!

We made a 17 days trip out west last summer and I had occasion of visit laundry rooms in many different locations. With the exception of at Canyon Lodge in Yellowstone, WDW resorts have the best I've seen!!! :goodvibes

I took this as a question of overall life.

Yes, I've done laundry. I did it yesterday. I'll do it today. I'll do it tomorrow.. :earboy2:

we always do it on vacation. i bring all laundry supplies

We always do laundry, usually several times because I hate to bring home 5 loads of dirty clothes. Especially when they stink!

I put my powder detergent from home in an empty 20oz. pop bottle and slide it in one of our overnight bags. No need to run out and buy something extra, besides my girls are very sensitive to detergents and I would hate to have used something new on my vacation and get a reaction that keeps us from the parks.

We're another family that also does laundry. We usually stay at a DVC resort and have the W/D in our room - just bring our own detergent. Last time we stayed at OKW in a studio and did laundry in the laundry room. It was very neat and clean but the dryers were slow. No charge to use the machines though.

Next time were at a 1 BR, so I imagine I'll throw in a load before we leave every morning and dry them when we come back. Hey, if I do that, we can go on two outfits each. That will really cut back on packing... :earboy2:

We always do laundry on our vacations. Now that we're DVC members its a lot easier with the washer and dryer in the room. We go for stays of at least 10 days and don't want to carry that much luggage. We usually half fill all of our bags to make room for new stuff, and then end up having to buy a new bag to put new stuff in and then ship a bunch of new stuff home.

It doesn't matter if we're going to the beach or our first trip to Disney (last year) I always do laundry during our trip. B/c Tide makes DH itch, I usually bring a small bottle of Cheer and fabric sheets in a ziploc bag. Saves almost $5 and I don't have to worry about any skin break outs. I don't dry my shorts and tops completely so I always carry hangers w/me. While the whites are drying longer I'm hanging up my tank tops, shorts, and good clothes. We stayed at POR last year and like a previous poster stated the laundry room was near one of the quiet pools which made it really nice. Kids can swim while I do laundry....just like at home!! :rotfl2:

I've always had to do a few loads of laundry at WDW. I love the idea of the mesh expanding laundry bag, thanks for the tip. I used to use the stroller to haul it back and forth but we don't need the stroller anymore!

This year I'm packing less than usual. We always take too many clothes and end up wearing again what I just washed.

One thing to look out for. On a couple of occasions, I've found guests drying tennis shoes in the dryers after a rainy day at the parks. I don't know about you, but I found it disgusting to think I would put my good, clean clothes in the dryer after somebody had dried their family's dirty, wet sneakers without washing them first.

Yup, I always do laundry. Can't go home with dirty clothes. And with a family of four it feels like we're swimming in dirty clothes halfway through the trip.

The dryers are pretty lousy. I actually use a laundromat at home and am spoiled by the big awesome dryers that dry a load in forty minutes. These are pretty weak.

If you don't bring quarters not to worry. All the arcades have change machines.

Do they have a laundry service at Allstars? at BC & AKL I just put our clothes in the laundry bag and it was back the next day all cleaned and pressed :)

Wasn't that expensive either, especially considering the time saving.

Laundry service? That sounds good. I would definately pay to avoid spending my pool day minding the underwear! How much is it at WL? How do i find out?
