Okay, so I know we're on vacation and I don't plan on doing all our laundry in WDW but has anyone done their laundry in the resorts :confused3 ? We are staying in all star sports for 10 days and we are driving down from MA :moped: We don't have tons of room to bring the whole house and we have 2 toddlers so sometimes we go through several outfits in one day. Even by packing extra clothes I have a feeling I might need to wash a couple of loads while there :sad2: Also might want to clean beach towels before heading home so that we don't bring the whole beach home ;) . From what I have found out there are washing/dryer machines onsite at hotels. Does anyone know this to be true and cost to use them. I plan on bringing detergent with me but guessing coin operated machines :confused3

Yes, there are coin operated machines. We used them on both our trips; we have to with our messy toddlers. Bring lots of quarters...LOL. I can't remember how much they cost just remember dh going back to the room for MORE quarters:rotfl2:.

Yup.
Oyr stays are usually 7-10 days, so we always end up doing laundry at least once-- maybe twice. We have three kids and they can go through clothes faster than we plan!

The WL has coin-operated machines, about 4-5 of them. I think they cost about $1.50 to run a load. There is a larger bank of dryers-- maybe 8-- but they seem to take FOREVER unless I make the loads really small. They will have a change machine in the laundry room as well as vending machines for laundry items.

I would suggest buying that Shout stain stick and bringing it along to treat clothes as they get mucked up. That way, you won't feel the need to do laundry right away to save the outfits! I bought some travel sized Tide liquid and Bounce sheets at Target, too. Very convenient and took up barely any space.

HTH!

I think it costs $1.50 to wash and $2.00 to dry. You can buy detergent from little vending type machines at the laundry facilities. I just found a small bottle of Tide for $.99 at Target. It's good for 4 loads. I'm packing that b/c I know with a 10 day trip, a toddler and an infant, I will DEFINITELY be doing some laundry.

We did laundry at Poly on our last trip - I think the washer and dryer were $2 each? It may have been $2.50 even. We only did one load of laundry so it didn't seem like too much and we bought the soap and fabric softner there - $1 each I think. We used the laundry room late one night and I think I only saw one other person there, not crowded at all, but it was January too.

I always do laundy on our trips. I bring some detergent (though you can buy it there) and about $10 in quarters. It is expensive per load ($1.50 or $2).

Don't try to save money by packing the dryer full of clothes cause you'll end taking 2-3x longer to dry. Better to spread out the loads in the dryers - I did this last time and still seemed like half my clothes were damp

Just got back from the All Star Music. The washers and dryers were $2.00 and detergent was $1.00 per box

I just pulled out my "Passporter" and it states that every resort has a laundry room near the pool or in their room. It states to expect to pay about 8 quarters/load. We stayed at POR last year and did some laundry, so don't feel bad. I really don't remember how much it all was, but what the Passporter states sounds about right. I am with you. I don't want to pack a lot of stuff. It was no bid deal doing the laundry. We just went up and took a nap or you could hang by the pool.

Have fun!

In the heat and humidity, we like to change into fresh clothes often. Thus, we always do laundry on our 5+ day trips. The really nice thing about WDW resorts is that we have always found a laundry room next to a pool. (However, I'm not sure where the laundry is located at your resort.) On our May trip, dh made the mistake of heading to the laundry room really late at night, thinking everyone would be asleep. Nope. Just about everyone must have had the same thought. He was there until 3 am!! And he said it was still busy when he left. I think early in the morning works better.

I ALWAYS do laundry while we're at WDW. I would rather pack lite and wash clothes halfway thru our trip. I also stay up late and do laundry on our last night because I hate to get back home and have to deal with it!

count me in as another laundry person.

Disney resorts:
Washers $2.00
Dryers $2.00 for 30 minute cycle

Dolphin:
Washer $1.50
Dryers $1.50 for 30 minute cycle

I only bring enough clothes to last me 1/2 the trip cause I hate carting all that clothes. It's so much easier to do laundry and then have nice clean clothes to bring home.

Since the laundry is usually close to the pools, the best way is to do laundry is during break/swim time. Put laundry in washer, go hang out at the pool. 30 minutes later, gather up kids, switch laundry to dryer, go hang out at pool again. 30 minutes later, gather up kids, take and fold laundry, go back to room. Done in 1 hour.

Bring your own detergent and softener. Target has a 4load bottle of Tide for 99 cents and ziploc bag some softener sheets and you're good to go.

Yes, I do laundry on vacation. It keeps me from having to pack as much. I usually do the laundry while the kids swim or play in the arcade.

we do laundry too. It is not that big of a deal. somethimes the kids go to the pool and sometimes I do it late at night. eigher way, i bring my own detergent and a good book

Was there in May and it was $2.per load for wash and $2. per dry. Took shout from home(gel bottle) pre measured tide in baggies per load, and dryer sheets. There is something else that I had that the others did not. I had brought 2 of those pop-up mesh hampers for dirty and one for clean. Try getting 2 or 3 loads back to the room without any help. They are realy cheap and close down to where they take up no room. I got mine at Wal-Mart for like .98 each. :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

I did laundry last year at POFQ and I was on the third time trying to dry, I was mad! The kids were out swimming (with DH of course) and I was missing all the fun. Well finally this really nice guest told me the secret. If the vent is clogged all that hot humid air stays in the dryers so the clothes stay wet. He had me open all the unused dryer doors and that worked, my clothes finally dried. It made the laundry room a sauna but I didn't want to waste another $6 and still have wet clothes.

Yep, did it on our last trip and probably will again on our next. I agree the dryers seem to take forever.

We did laundry on our last trip and will again on our upcoming trip. I can't imagine taking enough clothes for 5 people for 6 days and then having to wash all those when I get home.

Yes, I've done laundry. On our last trip I did laundry the night before we left to go home. The laundry is usually near the pool. I popped the clothes in, found a lounge chair next to the pool. Sipped a pina colada and read. Best part, no laundry when we got home!

I found some laundry detergent tablets and packed them. I took them out of the box and the individually wrapped tablets will fit almost anywhere. The leftover tablets I saved to take this year.

The fold down laundry hampers are an EXCELLENT idea. I think I will have to invest in some of those as well!

As much as I complain about doing laundry at home I was always happy to do it at WDW. When the kids were small DH would take them for a few hours and I'd do laundry while sitting by the pools reading. A couple hours to myself, I loved it!

There's always plenty of laundry to do in my house. Vacation is no exception..... :( Just grin and bare it.
