at the park and asking for another day pass? I know someone that was there last week when the Rock 'n' Roller was down. They got new one-day passes for free to come back. That's what they asked for when they complained!

Nope, but then I haven't ever asked for anything. We are used to the routine maintenence. Personally I would rather they shut it down for safety every once in a while then ride on something dangerous.

It never occurred to me to ask for a free anything. Huh, well they got what they wanted.

In my opinion, that's absurd! How could one ride being down possibly have affect a person so much that they would request they be compensated for an entire day????

Geeze, we were out of TP at work one day, I think I should be compensated by having an entire day off of work. :p

BaWHahahahahahaaaaa!!!!

Well Said!!! :teeth: :):):)

LOL, Jodi, that person was really out in left field with that request. Disney, doing it normal 'the guest is always right' gave them a pass, but that is really ludicrous. Hope I never have to spend a day at the park with a whiner like that.

Haven't you heard of drip dry????? :p :p

The person that got the free ticket also mentioned that The Movie Ride was down that day. He said that him getting to visit the park again may bring Disney more money if he buys something, eats there, etc, etc. It's another customer in the park.

He would have probably gone back anyway, if he was anything like the rest of us.

Why were these rides down? Didn't I read previously that it was due to a power surge?

I would never imagine asking for compensation for one, two or three rides being down. I think you have to take it with a grain of salt. RnR is my favorite ride but it would not diminish my vacation if was down. I think if you have to get a free pass because one ride is down, you are not going to be happy with much of anything.

Just my opinion though.

Wasn't the Great Movie Ride being refurbished? If so, it was closed not just "down". I think that request was ridiculous also whether it was closed and he complained or even just 'down'.

I think it's a ridiculous request, too. Every time we go there is usually at least one major attraction closed for refurbishment. Like another poster said, I'd rather WDW shut down the rides intermittently for safety reasons than have them feel forced to keep a potnetially dangerous ride open.

Oh great Test Track was down the entire time I was there last time I should have gotten a free pass! Yeah right. That is so obsurd. Just another example of people getting something for nothing.

I think it even states on the back of the admission ticket something about Disney not being responsible for rides being down for maintenance, weather, technical problems, etc. - doesn't it? Anyway, I agree with everybody else. That's just silly!

I know many CM's use the motto "The guest isn't always right, but they are always our guest"

Sometimes people are just too much for a CM to handle and are unfortunatly given what they want, no matter how petty. People come to Disney really expecting it to be magical and unrealistic.

I think to an extent, but if that's totally how it worked they would let everyone in free, everyday.

I've never complained about a ride being down. If it's down for refurbishment, then the aggrieved party should have done their homework and found that out before they went. If the ride goes down while at the park, well that sometimes can't be helped. I doubt anyone at Disney is going to close a ride in the middle of the day just for the fun of it.

Once I was in line for BTMRR and it went down. The lines cleared out almost immediately. We were smart enought to ask a CM how long he thought it might be and he said it would just be a few minutes. The ride started back up about ten minutes later and we were able to ride three times in a row before the crowds caught on and the line started forming again :D

Nope...never complained. Rides break and need to be fixed...just how things work. And rides get old and need rehab...just how things work.

On test track we were next in line to load and it broke down (big surprise  ) and they gave us passes to "cut the line" next time...I thought that was nice. :)

We have never complained about a ride being down/closed. Maybe inquired at to when it might be up and running, but that's about it.

I have an acquantance (notice, I did not say friend??, lol), who complains about everything. She's the type who would walk away with a free pack ticket for something like that. Right now, she's in a spat with American Airlines because -- get this -- they did not get bumped from their New Years Eve flight as the airline told them there was a chance they would because of overbooking. So, she's fighting with them because she flew on the flight she originally booked AND feels she should receive some type of compensation for it. The sad part is she'll probably get something too.

My baby-sitter's father went during IASW rehab (don't recall the year) and upon his return home, wrote a letter of complaint to Disney that it ruined his trip (can you imagine?) because he drove all the way from NJ and it was one of his favorite rides.

Disney sent him and his family a one day park pass. Personally I think he complained just for the freebie.
