Has anyone ever booked 2 different resorts for same week?

Is this a silly question? I am so nervous about Not getting a code, and want to stay on the property. So we're booked at CBR (my all-time, wonderful, magical, very favorite) spot, but dh says it's really too expensive since there are no discounts to be found. And I am a little nervous about the 'atmosphere' with all the construction. Will it feel the same? CBR has always been so magical to us, and the last time we stayed there was 2004. So I asked if I could make ressies at Pop too, and they (Dis ressies) said I couldn't do that. Has anyone ever had ressies at 2 different types of Disney properties? And how do I do that?W

We go on March 11-17, just my dh and 8yrdd. Would love some help here. And we did get AAA on the CBR room but the price is still above $170 a night.

Disney frowns on booking 2 resorts for the same time-frame, and if the computer finds that, both of the reservations are subject to cancellation. They want to be able to have actual people in the room, not just a ghost reservation, if I'm making any sense.

Have you considered doing a split-stay? You could spend 3 nights at Pop, then 3 at CBR. That would make your trip more affordable, even if there is not a code released for that time. Disney will even transfer your luggage for you, We hav done that a few times, and it is really no hassle. Plus it is a great way to check out a resort that you couldn't afford for a long stay.

We book the Dolphin and a WDW resort. Then the games begin. Who ever has the lowest rate 2 months before we go, is where we stay.

We love the Dolphin but the CR and WL beat them out in price once.

Now we have CSR and the Dolphin competing Easter week 2010.
Price wars are a great way to decide on our resort.

I just didn't know that Disney frowned on that. We thought about booking Pop but prefer CBR so we booked CBR. We would never think about offending Mickey or bothering the pixie dust.!!And I was just curious...have only one ressie that I made and want to keep!

We love CBR too. You're going during Peak time that's why the room rate is so high.

I had no clue disney frowned upon that,, because we do it all the time, and they've helped me do it,, We get the POP for our whole stay the whole plan all together, and we also book 2 nights at fort wilderness payed for a cabin for me and my youngest to stay in and also got a campsite so that my husband and my older ones could camp outdoors.. We still had to pay for POP the whole time even when we didn't use the room,, but our stuff was in the room,, I only stayed at cabin because I didn't want to be alone with a toddler by myself at POP.. and the rest of the family just likes spending a couple nights "roughing it" They have made the reserations for me, and they never told me that was frowned upon,, I was told your paying for all the space.. so we've done this on numerous occcations with no issues at all,, disney helping us plan it but out of some money.. Could someone tell me or show me where the rule is about that?? I want to make sure we are not breaking the rules and the reservation person isnt' just loving us for spending so much money..

This is not what the OP was considering. Disney frowns on you making 2 reservations with the intention of cancelling 1, when you figure out what you want later on.

Your case is different since your intension is to keeping and paying for both ressies. In order to be able book two ressies like that during the same period the CM would need to enter the the info into a computer a different way so the computer does not spit the double ressie out.

Disney frowns upon guests booking 2 different resorts for the same period with the intension of holding both resorts until the guest desides which ressie to cancel.

If all guests booked two or three resorts until the last minute Disney could end up with a lot of vacant rooms that could have booked by other guests.

Just my 2 cents.

i'm just not getting the "why" of this.....

To avoid any confusion or complications with Disney, you could always just pay for each separately using two different credits cards under two different names-?

But you have to tell Disney the names and ages of the people staying in the room. And if you want to take advantage of EMH or use Magical Express, that wouldn't work.

why spend the additional monies on pop? why not just book FW for the entire stay?
or for the amt of money spent on pop, the cabin, & the campsite, wouldn't it have been less expensive to book a deluxe?

No we stay 2 weeks so we really need to do POP however this year will be a issue because my youngest turned 3 and we outgrew it,, they won't let more than four in a room now but my heart is at POP sounds hokey but its like home away from home to me.. I love it their.. we are booked for the whole stay in Sept at the cabins,, so from now on unless I get 2 rooms at POP we can't stay their.. Do you think they inforce that rule..??

Do you mean the rule of only 4 in a room? There are a few problems with trying to circumvent it. First, you can't take advantage of EMH. Every person has to show a room key in order to get in for EMH, even the little ones. Second, you will not be able to use Magic Express. You need a person count for that one too. Third, no dining plan, if that interests you. And fourth, Disney says only 4 people over the age of 2 in a single value room. That's the rule! If everyone snuck only 1 extra child in, can you imagine how much more crowded the resorts would be? Pool area, food court, bus stop. They would all be swamped if everyone snuck just 1 extra child in.
