Has anyone ever been waitlisted by DCL for the Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver and gotten it?

Forgive my poor English - don't know if "gotten" is correct but what i need to know is just that. Apparently DCL has a block of rooms at the Vancouver Fairmont Waterfront but they are all taken so I was placed on a waitlist. Has anyone had the same experience? I can't decide if I should wait and hope that someone cancels (in the meantime losing out on other possible hotel deals). Of course, Disney can't tell me how likely my chances are either so I'm turning to the DISboards!!! Thanks so much!

Have you tried booking it directly, not through DCL?

We were on a waitlist for the Tivoli in Copenhagen and we received a room. However, they posted the price on our DCL account and it turned out to be higher in price than we had already booked at the same hotel ourselves (including breakfast). So we called DCL and cancelled the room they had reserved for us. I would call the hotel yourself and book your own room.

Thoughts....
  • To clarify... when is your cruise date? Some dates have higher demand than others.
  • Vancouver has LOTS of alternative hotels. We can help identify availability once we have your dates.

Thanks for the replies. Disney's rate is $330 USD which is a VERY generous discount. I probably should have mentioned that I have talked directly to the front desk as well and they want double!!! It was like $650 a night! I realize that there are several hotel options and that I am cruising during a very busy time in Vancouver (July 25th departure) but I can't change my sail date as this point. I want to stay close to Canada Place and am considering several options BUT my question was, and still is, DCL has placed me on their waiting list for the Fairmont Waterfront (which is my first choice)....I just wondered how likely it is that I might get it. Have others been placed on the waiting list and actually gotten it? :)

I want to stay close to Canada Place

My questions are....how close, have you looked at a walking map of downtown Vancouver, WHY do you want to stay super-close, and what are your plans while you're in Vancouver?

All of downtown Vancouver is walkable, and there are many good hotels there. Taxis are decent in every way.
