I was offered an EXCELLENTLY priced package at a destination that we already have tickets for. (The Hilton Waikaloa Village). The caller identified herself by name and company, asked for me by name and indicated that she knew we stayed at Hilton hotels before. I told her that I would have to consult my DH and to call me back the next night. My concern was that the call came through on my caller id and unknown. She called back the next night, left a message that the dates I wanted and the caveat I wanted (full refund if DH is activated to the Army) was in place to call her. I called the main 1-800 reservation number available to anyone who wants to call Hilton reservations. I asked them if this was a marketing method that they used and ultimately she put me through to the party and her manager that had called me.
I was assured that we wouldn't be expected or asked to attend a time share presentation (that was not even part of the offer), so I gave them my credit card and they cross referenced my current existing reservation. I guess my paranoia kicked in when the call came through as blocked and I didn't get a solicitation in the mail first. I checked my on line CC statement and I haven't been billed yet but I was told it would show up as Hilton Grand Vacations, Orlando. It also hasn't shown up on central reservations at Hilton yet although the reservationist I spoke with this morning told me that he was sure that the front desk would have it. He sounded familiar with the promotion. Any one else have this experience? Maybe you can reassure me that I covered all of my bases. I don't think twice about it when I get a call from Starwoods or Marriott because it doesn't come though as "unknown". Ah the woes of technology.
