that it doesn't matter what a post seems to be about that there seems to be someone who takes offense or has a snide comment to make?
I've just noticed this the last couple of days and I hadn't seen this before--not as often anyways
Just bothers me that some like to add negative comments when quite often they aren't even necessary!
Sorry if I offend with this post, just making an observation.
P.S. Oh yes, thought I had better add this before I get flamed...I love the DIS boards and it just bothers me when people are negative---remember what Thumper says "if ya can't say somethin' nice, don't say anythin' at all"

I haven't made to many posts. And the more I read, the more I am afraid to chime in. I don't ever want to offend anyone with a comment or opinion I share.
But I guess with so many members, there will almost always be someone who takes offense to anything you say. I guess, I will just have to be careful about what I write.

Bonnie - I agree. I think that it is totally ridiculous that people can make an arguement out of an umbrella or a flip flop!!! lol I think that some people do it just to create controversy....

Thanks, rmontgo892! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology, and I was intent to find a pic that incorporated two of my passions!!!
Now only if DisneyWorld would hire me as a Meteorologist, I would be all set!!

I completely agree. What is wrong with people lately. This used to be such a friendly and humorous board to visit. I have been away from computer and logged on for my disney fix and to see if I had missed anything. I enjoyed Rileyroosmom's post about things that she wished she didn't see while at WDW. I thought it was hilarious. I couldn't believe all the flack everyone was tossing to her. Can someone explain to me why there has to be someone just waiting to criticize for every little thing???

Just ignore those kinds of comments. I just assume they are made by disgruntled individuals with nothing better to do and I don't let them affect my mood. Life's too short to worry about such things.

I feel the same way Kimberly815! I actually wrote about this on another thread, and how it looks to people just joining...I was sooo afraid to post, because some things just get out of hand. I was very surprised how some posters get so nasty and rude with their comments, and on a Disney board, go figure. Some people just need a lil' extra pixie dust sent their way.

I totally agree! And I'm glad someone has brought this up. People on these boards are getting way too offended by other's opinions.

I think everyone needs to realize that there is no right or wrong way of looking at something. And that these boards are not a place to try and change anyone's mind about touchy subjects.

The boards are to have fun and plan magic!

And thank God that we all have different opinions! It's nothing that any of us needs to get upset about. Can you imagine how boring the world would be if everyone agreed with everyone else?

I just recently came back on board after joining a few years ago and getting "flamed" over something really inconsequential, something a "beginner" might say, don't really remember what, but I DO remember thinking, "what am I doing this for".

I'm starting to see alot of the same again since rejoining recently but have decided to look the other way . We have to remember that people from all over are on these boards, people who we do not know, cannot relate to, and some that are just here to raise debates (must be a lack of excitement in their own lives, lol). While I love an educated debate, I cannot stand the replies that take a "I know everything, get out of my way" approach.

Here's to all of the help I've received and the friendly tips that you have all provided

Yes, I too have noticed this lately. In general, I don't post much; I enjoy reading through. But lately, some of the threads have not been enjoyable - boy, do people get nasty. In some cases, though, I do think that people are trying to be sarcastic/funny/clever, but this doesn't always come across in email. I just wish everyone would chill - to use a phrase - Why can't we all just get along?

I totally agree with you as I was thinking the same thing. I have been real careful about what I post lately. On occasion, I have posted information that was not totally accurate or was not the opinion of others. Now while I did not do this on purpose, (in my mind I thought I was correct), instead of somebody just politely correcting me, I was met with a nasty response. But I have always taken the high road and just apologized. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I just think that anyone who is fairly new to the boards might be afraid to post anything because it just doesn't seem to take very much to offend--I had initially thought of writing this thread a couple of days ago but thought I would be flamed to little black pieces but definately decided to say something after reading poor Rileyroosmom's post!
Wow!! Some people really took offense to it and it was probably something that was written to maybe give people something to smile or chuckle at--I just felt it was really unnecessary for a couple of posters to make a person feel like they don't want to be a part of DIS because of nastiness....honestly that's not what the DIS boards are about!
So anyone new reading this--Please, feel free to post as we aren't all waiting to "attack" we're more likely to give you a hug!

I have run into negative people at the grocery store. They are out there. Nothing we can do about it but smile and travel on.

Most DISers will offer a hug before they offer a criticism but there are a few who are negative. Whenever you get 60,000 people together in the same place you are going to find others who are negative.

Don't give up on the DIS. It truly is a friendly place
