Has anyone else lost the Disney bug?

I've been vacationing at Disney at least once a year since 2001. But this year I don't have the desire to go...:confused3 I'm not really sure why, I enjoy just about everything Disney has to offer but I've lost that "fix" for the Disney vacation.:confused3 Has this happened to anyone else here?

I was feeling that way after our last vacation in August. I was just burned out on Disney. I'm starting to feel the itch to go back though. Give yourself some time, that old feeling will come back. :thumbsup2

I know how you feel, I usually go in early May, but didn't book this year, was feeling a little Disney burn out (although that isn't exactly the right word) but now I regret it a little and wish I was going in May now. Planning a trip for 3rd week of November instead. Something different. The desire comes back, you'll see.

Nope. Unfortunately I have the Disney itch really bad! But I haven't been to a Disney park in a little over a year and a half, and I don't have any trips currently planned (to Disney).

Maybe you want to try a new vacation spot? Absence does make the heart grow fonder! When I am in WDW I miss Disneyland and vice versa- right now I'd take either!

I usually get the itch about 2 to 3 months after my last visit...OP when was the last time you were at the world?

as my brother always tells me "there are other places to vacation ya know!" maybe try something different...every time I do visit somewhere new I wish I would have spent my $ on a disney vacation, it happens every time.

I wish! (Not really) I struggle to get to a Disney park every 2-3 years so by the time I even start planning, I'm already going nuts clear until I go. My Disney fill only lasts about a month before I'm ready and rarin to go back. ;)

If I go 2 weeks without it, I'm dying, but if you have lost the desire, try going on a Disney cruise. I often get a little jaded since I work for the company, but going on the Disney cruise always brings back the magic for me.

I think my bank account would appreciate it if I felt this way! However, I have it big time right now! My family (parents) are not big Disney fans, so now that I am old enough to afford and book my own vacations, I always choose Disney! Although I am going on a cruise from NY to Canada later this summer. :)

I felt that way, for all of 2009. And I was the kid who made her own travel brochures to try to convince her parents to go. After I got married in '01 ... well, my signature will give you a good idea of how many times I finagled another trip. ;)

We had an Oct '09 trip planned after our Oct '08 and sometime around last February I just lost all taste for it. A lot of it was to do with decisions Disney was making as a company, in my case. Vote with your dollars, y'know?

Last fall, my husband and I were in a serious car accident and oddly (or maybe not so oddly) that was what got me wanting to go back. Maybe because, even if there have been changes there that I don't care for, there are still a lot of happy memories. Maybe it's because we live far from home and family and Main Street feels more home-y to me than anything I can get around here. I'm not sure.

We ended up doing a very quick (one night) trip in January for my birthday, and I discovered that however hard I may try to outrun the Disney gene, it's not gonna happen for me. Not saying that it will take a serious incident to rekindle your desire to visit the parks (and I hope you don't have one!), but I can tell you with some certainty that the burned out feeling goes away after a while, and hopefully when it does, you'll find that 'absences makes the heart grow fonder' adage is true for you, too. It was for me.

Same here. Went for seven nights / eight days last August, our longest trip to date. We all left having had a great time, but saying we would go somewhere else this year. A few weeks ago, we decided we are ready to go back this August for a shorter five night / six day stay.

I think the key is to try something new each trip. I would like to try different times of year to mix it up a bit, but it just isn't in the cards with all the kids activities. One thing that helps is having never stayed in the same resort twice. This year we are making our first return stay at CBR. It's been three years since we were there and the pool is all new. So it's still a change of sorts.

I was a little burned out after our last trip over New Years. We were there quite a bit last year. But, right now if I could hop on a plane I'd do it. I need to get back soon. We are going in early June and can't wait.

No burnout here either! If it wasn't for the distance - we would go more often. Going in one month!!! Already starting to think about the next time.:yay::yay::yay:

No burn out here. We've been going at least once a year since 1988, most times 2x a year and although we've certainly changed the way we 'do' disney, we still start missing it after a couple of months.

If you're really burned out, maybe take a year or two off and see how you feel.
We do other destinations, but our big escape from reality is still WDW.

I have lost that "Disney" feeling. Not sure I can pinpoint why... I just have. It actually makes me sad to think I have no interest at this time. Maybe (like the others) I am burned out? We've gone 5 times in the last 4 years. Plus, the last few times we've gone... the parks were packed, wait times were insane (we only go off peak), dinner reservations were impossible and the park guests were kinda rude (drunk @ EPCOT) and unhappy. It wasn't the 'happy' place it used to be.

no burn out here, but we don't go more than once a year. typically every 2-3 years, with a quick stop on business for a day maybe just for me.

but in 2009, i did the podcast cruise May and then 10 days at WL in Dec. Still not burned out. Planning Disneyland in Sept and WDW in Dec again (first time home as DVC!). That is a lot for me, when i usually don't go so often. so in fact, i've gotten the bug the other way- wanting to go more often!!

I hope i never get burned out, but i guess it could happen. :confused3:rotfl:I never got tired of it on the college program either those 4 months. in fact, i almost regret NOT doing more outside of WDW. i spent almost all my free time in WDW and the parks.

After a couple weeks straight I was ready to get home, but about 3-4 months later I was ready to head back. I love go other places, so as long as I get to travel somewhere else every year, I'm ready to get back to disney once a year or so.

I thought this was funny because sometimes I can get a little grouchy when planning other vacations and I am known to compare things by saying "you know we could stay at the Grand Floridian for that price" or "this dinner equals a one day park hopper.."

Haha- but I am the opposite, in the end I usually end up loving our other trips and am glad that I did them, and then I am ready for Disney again!! But we have gone great places in between Disney..Europe, San Diego, Cabo, Hawaii and in a few weeks the UK!!!!

I have this strange problem that when I'm on a Disney vacation I enjoy myself but I often think that I'm not having as much fun as I think I should be having.

When I'm NOT on a Disney vacation, I can't wait to go back. I listen to podcasts, frequent all the Disney websites, and think about reasons to return.

My most recent visit was over marathon weekend in January. I was there to race the Goofy Challenge, so I was very busy during the trip, and I was there with both family and friends so it was a somewhat hectic trip under bizarre weather conditions, and the whole time I was thinking that I wasn't having as much fun as on my previous trip.

My prior visit was a longer one - 10 days around marathon 2008 -- and it was fantastic. We did a lot of unusual things (swimming in Living Seas, sunset safari, segway tour) and had a lot of time to relax and take in the atmosphere.

I think part of it is that I'm just not very interested in the attractions anymore. I like the atmosphere and the people watching more than I like Tower of Terror and it makes me wonder if I'm just wasting my time paying theme park prices for people watching purposes. I also used to really enjoy the food at Disney but I think there's been a noticable decline in the food choices over the years and even that isn't so much fun anymore.

I guess I just need a 2 to 3 year layoff between visits to make it exciting to me again, or I need to go at a different time of year to make it seem new. I'm considering a quick visit this year around Food & Wine since I've never done that before, but then I think "Disney again?" maybe not.

I also think that if not for the marathon, and the running events, it would be a VERY long time before I headed back to the World.

Pretty much every time we go (and we go often) we think we've had our fill for a while. We get these grand ideas to try somewhere new. After being back in the real world for a few weeks we can't wait to get back. Always craving some sort of Disney whether it's WDW, DL or DCL.

Lately we find it's not even Disney we miss so much but we just love Florida.
