Has anyone else heard this rumor re: refrigerators?

Rumor - WDW is going to put refrigerators in every deluxe and moderate resort starting now (should finish in around 5 months).

Anyone else heard this one?

my travel agent verified this...her claim is that the resorts would begin to placing them in the rooms yesterday, 8/16, and would finish in the next few months....

This is way out of date. The DVC resorts have had refridgerators since the first resort opened in 1992! The best resorts, the best rooms and the best locations. Why stay anywhere else?

The OP is writing about Deluxe and Mods....duh...so not really out of date...

Have you ever seen Eddie Murphy do the skit about the kids with McDonalds teasing the kid with a hamburger on loaf bread, Nuthut? I can appreciate the fact that you like your McDonalds, but until I get off welfare, the Deluxes will just have to do for me, and I am glad to be getting a refrigerator

on another board, a front desk CM from CBR says they are starting putting the fridges in right away there, so i'm thinking the rumours are true lol. Makes me pretty happy since i'll be at CBR in 20 days lol

That would be great if it happens BUT where are they putting them? On the floor or are they putting a small side table in the room too? I know when we have rented them once it was placed on the floor. When someone sees where they actually are please let us know.

Way to go Disney...one more way to please more people.

They should just go ahead and include the value resorts..and while they are at it..they should put that curtain up in the value resorts also..so there is a private dressing area.

I called the WL to ask about a frig. The CM confirmed that refridgerators are being put in all of the Deluxe and Moderate resorts. Right now they are doing the CBR. I have reservations for mid Sept and asked if there would be a frig in the room at the WL by then. He said there is a 50/50% chance. He doesn't know the schedule for the resorts.

We reserved a frig for the trip. I am cheap and would love to save $10 a day.

Huh? I don't believe anyone mentioned the DVC resorts and I don't think the thread was about debating or discussing which is the "best" resort class. The OP was simply asking about fridges in deluxe and moderate resorts (hardly "out of date" since it hasn't happened yet).

They used to have "mini-bars" at the mods way back when... I remember we would remove some minibar items and place them on top of the fridge to cool off our own drinks. Course this was also the time when a refillable mug taken from the Mini-bar cost more than if you bought it direct at the restaurant. Always fun!

Just made the deposit on our November trip and the CM at CRO said it is NOT a rumor, and should be done in 5 WEEKS, not months. Here's hoping his info was correct!!!

That's terrific! When I first started researching for my WDW trip, I couldn't believe they didn't have them, because we had a nice sized fridge in our room at the Disneyland Hotel in CA.

I've been turning the fridge vs. cooler issue over in my mind for so long...I've wanted to save the money BUT I hate to spend my vacation running to the ice machine BUT I hate to pay twice as much to rent a fridge for 10 days as I would pay to buy one at Target.

I have to say I am pleasantly AMAZED. I never thought Disney would voluntarily add an amenity which has even the possibility of taking income away from vending machines and food courts... good for them.

Now the burning question is-- will the Polynesian have them in 31 days?
