We are leaving in a couple of weeks. Has anyone eaten at Chefs de France lately? Has the menu changed? I have already looked at www.allearsnet.com to check out the menu. Is there anything on the menu that is not included on the dining plan? I didn't want to get my hopes or my husband's hopes up for something that may not be included since we are on the dining plan.

TIA!

Hi

Just got back from WDW today.

Chefs de France was one of my favourite place to eat - until this visit. What a disappointment. We did only each the Lunchtime Set Menu but boy was it bad. Tasteless soup, stale bread and poor waiter service. What more can I say!

Oh no! I am sorry that you had such a bad time. I hope our experience is better. We are eating dinner and got the Candlelight Processional Package. Now I am nervous!

We loved it last year but now I'm reading less than positive things. Ugh! May have to scratch it off my list this year.

Had lunch there during the last week of October. I had a tomato & goat cheese tarte to die for, and some okay macaroni & cheese. The rest of my party had the lunch special, and it was very good. Good solid meal, would def. go back.

eta: The menu doesn't look like it's changed since I was there.

I was there the last week in October for dinner. I had a lovely meal. The service was excellent, almost a bit too attentive. I would not worry about going there. Chef's gets numerous bad reviews, I think, because people expect an elegent dining experience in a French restaurant. For that go to the Bistro upstairs. Chef's is a good meal, in a nice atmosphere, with friendly and attentive wait staff. There is always the possibility of not having a perfect experience, but I've been going to Chef's every year (most years a couple of times) and have had nothing but good expereinces. Don't worry about what people say, have a good time and enjoy the food.

I loved the food, what we wanted we were able to get on the dining plan, but found the atmosphere a little too hectic compared to the other times I've been there. I think it was just the time we went that made it soo busy.

We were there the first week of October. Service was s-l-o-w. Food was not great, IMHO, but my DH said that if you go to a French restaurant, you must be prepared to order French food, such as duck l'orange or escargot, rather than the filet I ordered. It was one of the bigger disappointments of our trip, I was assuming since the French are famous for their food and this place was expensive, that it would be much better. We won't go there again!

We also went first week of october, first lunch seating. we had a great service, good food, AWESOME bread :flower:

I would recommend it.

We were there on November 14, and I had the set menu, it was great, the soup was terrific is and huge, the salad and sandwich great, the bread warm and crusty, the creme brulee was very good. The service was slow, but we did eventually get our food and were kept entertained by the show outside. One of my DD had the lobster bisque which was outstanding, my husband the steack which he really enjoyed.

;) We had dinner there a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The service and atmosphere were great! I would eat there again. If you like cheese I recomend the cheese plate appy. Very good!

We went in September and it was TERRIBLE, and I mean horrible. We waited forever and ever even for water and rolls, and the place wasn't full. They did bring dd's hamburger meal out quickly like we asked, but after about 90 minutes waiting for our entrees, we asked for our bill and canceled our meals. The manager came out and apologized, and said new chefs had arrived that week and "unfortunately have to be trained on the job". Yes, unfortunately for every diner there! We will not try that again, what a waste! There are SO many good restaurants in EPCOT!

Wow, this concerns me! We may skip Chefs de France this year.

I would not make a hasty judgement based on 1 persons experience. If you look at the whole thread it's almost 2:1 in favor of Chef's. If Chef's is a restaurant is a restaurant that you want to go to, go. I'm sure that you will have a great time.

We have NEVER had a bad experience at this restaurant. The profiteroles for dessert alone are worth the trip!

We just ate there last week - for lunch. Ordered the French Menu - (French Onion soup, Ham & cheese sandwich and Creme Brule for dessert.) It was very good! The soup was probably the best I have ever had and the sandwich was excellent as well. The dessert I could have lived without but I'm just not partial to creamy things.

The service was good but our waitress had zero personality. I just attributed that to her being French!

Overall, it was one of our best meals in WDW.

DH and I had a late lunch there the third week of October this year...the food was excellent and the wait staff was attentive! I wish I had gone there instead of L'originale Alfredo's the one night we went...we were given the bums' rush, the food was cold, and they just couldn't wait to get us out so they could get it cleaned up and out of there for the night....If and when I ever go back to Alfedo's it will never be for the last seating of the day. But this thread is on the Chef's de France, and DH & I had a lovely meal there!

Out of all our meals in WDW, this was the biggest disappointment for us. We are rather snobby about French cuisine tho, as I was trained in it.That makes us a bit hard to please, so our expectations/experience may be different. The Americanization of the food was just too bland & lifeless for us. The atmosphere is lovely, if hectic. The desserts & cheeses are Heavenly. But we could have done without the rest of the meal.
We will not be going back.

Thanks everyone for your reviews! I am glad that the menu has not changed. We will definitely try it this trip. I am too nervous to changed all of my ADR's now anyway.

Thanks!

Why? Unless you have a time machine and go back and eat at the Restaurant in September of 05, you will not have that same problem.

I concur with the above poster... the vast majority of people who have posted have enjoyed the restaurant. It sounds like a great place. If you looked at the menu and thought you would like it, chances are you'll have a fabulous meal.
