Has anyone "Downgraded" their iPhone?

I have a iPhone 3G that is 14 months old. I upgraded to iOS 4.0 a few months ago and my battery life went into the toilet. I used to be able to use my phone for a full day without any issues and after the upgrade my phone doesn't even last until the afternoon. It was very annoying to have my phone die at WDW :(. When the 4.1 update was offered I upgraded again hoping that the battery problem would be solved ... it wasn't and now my wi-fi won't connect!

My phone is on my least nerve.

I can get an iPhone 4 if I want to since my contract is up in November (the current phone is a replacement for a phone that died in less than a year). My DD wants my current phone as an iPod Touch but it's worth a thing if the battery dies in just a few hours and the wi-fi can't connect.

Has anyone "downgraded" an iPhone back to 3.1.3? My phone is out of warranty so that is not an issue.

Have you upgraded to OS 4.1 yet? I believe there was a fix for the battery issues in that release.

Yes, I upgraded to 4.1 and I still have battery issues. AND my wi-fi won't connect AT ALL.

I also still have a problem where my phone loses the connection and I have to reboot the phone to get it to reconnect. THAT is better under 4.0/4.1 than 3.1.3 and I'm only rebooting ONCE a day :sad2:.

I think when I get my new phone I will pay for the extra year of Apple Care.

I had to make sure my incoming mail was not on automatic push. After upgrading it switched from manual mode to push which wears down the battery pretty fast.
Just a thought. :confused3

Thanks Barb! I just did that yesterday :). I don't know if it will help or not yet.

I haven't tried this myself, but I saw this:

and have also seem the question raised on both the MacRumors forums as well as the AT&T Wireless forums.
