Has Anyone Done This?

We are arriving on Friday 16 December at MCO at 12:52pm. We plan to use DME. We are staying at SSR in a 2BDR villa and 2 studios. We are a group of 14...5 moms and 9 children, ages 6, 6, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 3 and 19 months!

We would like to go to the Magic Kingdom on Friday afternoon. Has anyone ever taken DME to the GF even if you weren't staying there so you could jump on the monorail and be at the MK quicker? If we take DME to SSR and then wait for a bus to the MK we will waste alot of time. We plan to return to SSR around 8:30pm after dinner at Chef Mickey's. My hope is to check-in then and have our bags waiting for us. Will this work?

Thanks,

Kathy

No you can't do that. Your luggage needs to go to the resort you are staying at.

I didn't think that our luggage would be on the same bus. It will be tagged for SSR. Couldn't we just get dropped off at GF? Our luggage should be delivered to SSR regardless since it will be tagged for the resort that we are staying at.

I don't think so. That's similar to trying to send luggage via DME while the Guest drives a rental car to their resort. The bus driver scans your something when you board the bus - if you don't board, your luggage doesn't get transported.

Taking DME to SSR, then immediately jumping on a bus to MK might take an extra 45 minutes to an hour, but it makes the most sense. You can stil check in when you get back to SSR. But what would you do with all your carry on luggage in that case, or if you were able to take the GF DME bus?

I agree, I would just take the DME to Sarasota Springs and at least drop your carryons with Bell Services. Maybe the majority of your group could immediately hop on a bus for MK, then one or two of the adults could drop the carryons.

Maybe if SSR and GF were on the same bus route, you could get off at GF. But it looks like SSR is in the black zone and GF is in the red zone. It would seem that your ME ticket will only allow you to get on the bus that corresponds to the zone that your resort is in.

Well could one mom check everyone in at SSR and the other 4 moms and 9 kids go to the GF/MK ??

and with that many kids...I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't have a heafty amount of carry-on stuff that you would be lugging....

When you get to MCO you have to have one person go to the check-in desk to get your party checked in. Then you go to the appropriate bus line. When you get to the bus, the driver then scans your DME voucher. I'm assuming that voucher has your resort info on it. If you are on the GF bus, but your scanned voucher says SSR, you would probably have to get in the right line for the correct bus. You really aren't going to save all that much time trying to get right to MK. You really should go to SSR, drop off the carry-on bags you had, get checked in and maybe get into a room right away. You might take up an addtl hour by doing it the 'right' way. Much better to just go right to your resort.
