I have done the couple's villa, and I thought that the massage itself was not so good. It wasn't bad by any means, I have just had a lot better. The experience was nice, but the massage itself - just blah.

We just did the couples villas treatment on the dream. It was really nice, glad we did it but will likely not be doing it again. It's very $$ and I really don't like how they push the products after the massage is over.

If you're looking for a therapeutic massage that will break up muscle tension and get rid of those pesky knots, this is not the place to do it. If you are looking to spend some money on an "experience" and to have another form of relaxation on the ship, then go for it.

Just be aware they may also try to upsell you on the massage itself. Eg they recommended I have a hot stone massage, based on my answers to the pre-massage questionnaire. That costs extra.

Hubby & I did a Swedish couples massage on our first Dream cruise in Sept 2011. I've definitely had much better for far less $$. Prior to starting they ask if you have any concerns or requests. Yes! Do no touch my face or head (creeps me out). Extra attention to hands and feet even if she has to skip other areas to make time. She barely touched my hands or feet. Then there was the pushing of the products at the end. Kills that relaxed feeling for me. It's the way they say it...."You should be making time for each other...use the oil for massaging...." Like um, you don't know us or what we do so step off. ??? And that's when I was livid for spending that much to feel not relaxed. Grrrrr!!!! LOL! I've been on 10 Disney cruises since. Never been back to the spa for any treatments.

I have done the couples 50 minute massage on the Wonder. They bring you and your SO into a room with two tables. There was two message therapist. They worked on us both at the same time and at the end they put my hand in my husbands hand where I proceeded to laugh really hard. Sorry, it was just really corny.

Anyways, I really enjoyed it and it felt no different then having a message by myself.

Edit to add: they did push product at the end, but I just simply said thanks but not at this time. I didn't feel the stress to buy. Was it annoying, sure, but just kindly say no.

My wife and I did Swedish Couples massage and one other separate massage sessions on our first DCL Alaskan cruise. While all of the massages were good they were not nearly as good as some we have had for far less at other spas on land and other cruises. We did book one more couples massage while on the Dream this past January and again walked away feeling disappointed. It was relaxing but even when I was sucked into the up sale on the hot stone and a deep tissue we still didn't feel that we got my moneys worth. 0 for 3 on DCL ships so I think I'll stick to a cocktail and people watching for our relaxation on future cruises.

We did this last year on the Wonder in Alaska. It was lovely, but not something I'll probably do again. For our cruise next month, I've booked a massage for my hubby and a facial for me. And we'll do the Rainforest together.

I do find the constant product push pretty annoying though.

The first massage I ever had was the couples Swedish massage on the Fantasy three years ago. It was okay, relaxing but nothing special to me. I haven't had another massage since. After reading this string it reminded me I'm not a massage lover so I cancelled the couples massage I have booked for our upcoming cruise. DW will still get one though--she loves them.
I don't see the point of paying that kind of $$$ for something I won't truly enjoy. I just do the Rainforest Room passes and that gets me to relaxation mode.

We booked a couples choice spa treatment on our first cruise and rebooked it for our upcoming cruise. DW and a I both have had dozens of massages both individually and as a couple and the couples choice was up there with the best. Our masseurs did not try to sell us anything. If they had I would have complained bitterly. I'm not paying over $550 to be sold products.

We did the hot stone couples massage on the Fantasy and it was a nice experience (especially being able to look out over the water), but like pretty much everyone else has been saying you are paying for a nice experience not necessarily a stellar massage. The product sales attempt at the end was pretty annoying as well...nice but I wouldn't spend the money on it again when I can get a better massage at home for abut 1/2 the price.

I read on these boards that if you tell them in advance that you dont want to get a sales pitch at the end, they dont do it.

We did the Couples massage last year on the Fantasy and really likes it. Mind you hubby and I hardly have any time like that so it was a treat. Did get up sold to the stone treatment but I actually found it better and worth it. They did try to sell us products at the end but I knew that going in and I didn't find them overly pushy. Overall it was a nice experience

We did the Hot Stone Massage as a couple last year & LOVED it! They do try to sell products at the end but I have finally learned how to say no. Sure the massages are more expensive but I always have at least 2 on a Cruise, I think they are great. No complaints from me. My husband is not a huge fan, he would rather do the Rainforest Showers so he will go there on our next cruise while I get lovely massages.

DH and I always get spa treatments on our Disney Cruises, and have done the Couples Spa Villas a few times. And those treatments always include at least one massage for us. At home we get massages with some regularity and we are both pretty um.. picky. In both our opinions we have always received very nice spa services, including the massages in the DCL spas. As for pricing, their prices are pretty much what one will find at any high end resort spa. Are they pricier than we get here at home at one of those local day spas or franchise massage places? Um, yes. BUT those cheaper spas at home don't offer the really gorgeous amenities and spa offerings along with our massages.

For anyone that doesn't want a sales pitch, tell them right up front. It's really quite easy to politely but firmly say you don't want any pitch, especially after a lovely service.
