Hi

I was wondering if Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party was worth doing during our stay. What do you get that you wouldn't normally get any other time in december? we are 2 adults one infant and 5 year old. this would be our first family holiday to disney world, any tips as what to do around this time of year for kids.

Good evening: I am just back from a short 5 day stay at PORS. Missing it already. My family has done MVMCP twice. Definitely glad that we did it, but not sure that we would do it again as twice is enough. The most important aspect of this is the "atmosphere." It is made to be very festive in the holiday spirit. There are a couple of stage shows that are Christmas themed that don't show during the normal hours. Hot cocoa and cookies are offered throughout the part at certain spots. The Christmas parade is the masterpiece. It is themed to the season and is spectacular. The wooden soldiers' clacking feet are wonderful. There is even snow falling on Main Street after the fireworks. Some of the rides are open, too, during the party. So, do I think that it is worth it? Definitely should be done once or twice. We had a great time when we did it. Hope that this helps. Enjoy your stay and magical holidays to your family.

Depends on when in December you are going. If you are coming home on or before 20th then the extras you get to see are the Xmas parade and holiday wishes.

We are going in December. However we fly home on the 23rd so we can see the parade and fireworks as they switch them over to replace the regular day time parade and Wishes on the 21st without going to the party.

To us the party isn't worth it if you can see the parade and fireworks at another time. Hot chocolate & cookies are not worth the $60+ per person.

We love the party! Just expect it to be super crowded. But once you get over the crowd levels, it's sooooo much fun! We love the cookies & cocoa & parade. Seeing Holiday Wishes is also a fun experience. We also like to see a few characters & go on a few rides. Great night! Just know you need to pick & choose what you want to do as the night goes fast. Also I feel the food choices are lacking (mostly just snacks for sale) so if you want a meal, I'd eat before the party begins which is what we are doing this year.

We love the MVMCP, try and go to at least one every year. As others have mentioned it's a great atmosphere and we tend to find that the parks are a little quieter with lower crowd levels. We do go in November, so not sure if party nights in December are busier.

I would definitely recommend trying it once, parade and fireworks are excellent and extra character meet and greets make it a fun evening.

Yes, Santa appears in the park on night of MVMCP. If memory serves me right he appears in the little garden as you enter the park at town square. Bear in mind he does not appear when parades are on, so he is there for limited time and queues can take a while.

I'm pretty sure Santa is there on regular days too so the lines then may be shorter than at MVMCP.

We did the MVMCP in November and loved it. As others have said, the parade is wonderful. Very festive - gets you in the mood for Christmas :)

We went a few years ago roughly mid november and the atmosphere was great, "snow" pumping out over mainstreet, everywhere looked amazing. We watched the final parade and it was dead! We stood right at the main street entrance, loads of space, got up so close to everything it was great. I would guess it probably gets busier the closer you get to christmas

While it's definitely festive, unless you're planning on eating $70 worth of free cookies, it's no longer a must-do. They are over-selling tickets, and the 'hard ticket' reduced-crowd feel has disappeared over the past few years. Why am I paying an additional fee to stand in line for 45 minutes or more for Peter Pan? I can do that on a regular ticket.

The one thing I WILL recommend is that you do NOT waste a full-day ticket on this day. Visit the hotels, walk Downtown Disney, but don't go to the parks, blow a day's ticket to re-enter at 4pm on your MVMCP ticket. It's a total waste of your money.

We were thinking of doing this & I had a few questions. In the second parade do the floats still come from castle area down main street? Is it hard to stake out a spot near the entrance when so many people may be trying to leave at that time after the fireworks? We are doing the dessert party. Will we have time to get from the party to the front of the park to watch the parade?

Yeah the parade was the same. We literally strolled to the front and it was so quiet. When it finished we just strolled out. No rush, no big queue. Was really relaxed and calm
