Has anyone done the math? 40% v. Free dining on deluxe?

We had to change our dates from April -September and I'm trying to figure out what my vacation will cost, I know I could figure this out...hmmm...let me try...

So if I'm staying 7 nights at Yacht Club


(Sept 6-13)
Room only is $325 per night or $2195
So 40% off would be a savings of $878

If I booked the package and got Free Dining
I would save roughly $1100 ($5389 vs. $4209)

The part that is confusing is that it says you're saving 30% by adding the Dining to your package...so is it already discounted? Or are they just saying that the Disney plan is already giving you a break because you can order more expensive stuff on the menu and not have to pay as much?

Either way, it'd be nice to save the money!! And who are we kidding, any money we save will just be spent on items we get there! If we don't save the money we just can't buy as much stuff!

I've done the math for our 5 Sept nights at the Poly GV and free DDP comes in at about $50.00 cheaper for our family of 5 than 40% off. Now if they would just offer me EITHER I'd be in heaven. I just called a few minutes ago and a very nice CM said no codes for us!!!!!!!

hmmm I did the math and it seems like I would save around 40.00 If I used 40% instead of free dining (that was with figuring around 900.00 on food&snacks) If we went to a mod I could probably save around 500. w/free dining oh boy now Im thinking I should switch to a mod.

Garden View (not concierge) at the Grand Floridian. 40 % off code + dining plan was $8 more than room + free dining. So in a base room ($385 a night) the dining plan cost is almost covered by the 40% code. If the room were over $400 the code would be worth more than free dining. Under $350 a night and the free dining would have been better for us.

This is with 4a, 1c on the plan.

It fou course varies by family size and resort.

Does your $4209 package rate include tickets? Or is it room+free dining?

You need to look at your food budget for room only. How much do you think you'll pay out of pocket during your trip? I don't know the breakdown of how many adults and kids are in your party so I can't even estimate. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples and both ways include/exclude the same estimated expenses.

Total cost of room (-40%) + Estimated Cost of food = ?
vs.
Free Dining
Rack rate + Free food = ?4209?

Yes, with my discount on a bcv 1 br villa I save 688.04, with free dining only 429.90..I will stick with my discount

There are 5 in our family and we are so bad at keeping track of our food expenses....I do know that we loved being able to order anything off the menu rather than having to give our child the pleading "please don't order that, wouldn't you like the chicken instead?"...Our meal at Yachtman's Steakhouse (2 credits) was over $250 for just the one meal! we really like the dining plan, just seems that when they would offer specials 4 years and back that I saved much more, I remember getting 60-70% off room rates! We paid under $100 per night for the AKL room 6 years ago..ahhhh inflation!
