Has anyone done the Atlantis submarine in Cozumel?

My DS and I did this a few years ago. He was 10 at the time. Loved it. The crew were helpful and entertaining. The submarine was not jammed packed and didn't feel 'stuffy' like I was afraid of. Everyone had their own window and clear views. They used themed music for the 'deep' dive and return to surface. We saw a wide variety of ocean life including school of barracuda. We went to one of the drop-offs where all you could see was deep, deep blue. Coral was beautiful. Not as brightly coloured as I had anticipated but still beautiful. You have to tender out to the submarine but it was awesome to see it come up from below. We are considering this again on our next cruise when my sister and her family will be with us. :thumbsup2

We did this tour in March with our children ages 4 and 6 at the time. We all absolutely loved it - really amazing to go down so deep! We went over 100 feet deep and saw a good variety of sea life and lots of coral.

Considering this in cozumel with my boys 5 and 10, and the chocolate factory. Does anyone recall the times DCL offered the sub excursion? And can anyone comment on ship time vs cozumel time?

We did the Atlantis submarine in Grand Cayman. Loved it. If you go to a popular social media site that I can't name and go to "Our Travels on Disney Cruise Line," choose Photos-->Albums-->Maiden Voyage of the Disney Fantasy to see pictures. It won't be the Cozumel version, but I bet they are close to identical.

Thanks, appreciate the pictures.

I didn't like it all. I thought for the money it was very overpriced and honestly a bit boring. I had a much better time at the Georgia Aquarium. Everything was shades of gray and I didn't really get to see much other than some turtles. I think are a lot of other fun things to spend your money on. My whole family felt the same way, it was me, DH, DS who was four at the time, my brother, SIL and my nephew who was 10 and my niece who was 6.

We had this tour booked in Cozumel, but ended up cancelling at the last minute to go to Xcaret instead. We considered it after an identical trip in Lahaina, Maui, that we enjoyed a lot. Surprisingly, the best part of that was not the submarine ride itself, but rather the beautiful trip in the tender out to the pick up point. Seeing the submarine appear and getting into it was also exciting. After visiting Cozumel, I was relieved that we cancelled since the water was rough that day and the tender would have been a nightmare. The ferry ride to Playa del Carmen was bad enough. If it wasn't for that, I would have considered going when we stop by Cozumel again in the fall. Instead, we may just go shopping on our own in Playa del Carmen. We went back there to spend more time after the cruise and enjoyed it a lot. There's a very nice, brand new shopping district right at the point where you get dropped off the ferry.
