Has anyone done a side by side cruise?

We are currently booked on the Mariner of the Seas sailing June 9th of 2023.

I am toying with the idea of adding on a Disney Wish cruise from June 5th - 9th.

We have done a back to back on Disney before but never a side by side.

For this trip we would be driving so we would have the opportunity to store clothes and items needed for the second cruise and drop off items only needed for the first.

Other than the concern that something delays the first cruise coming back to port preventing us from embarking on the second are there any gotchas I need to think about?

You will be in a smaller space with many people for a short time. You have a risk that 1 or more people you sail with could get Covid before you get on the second ship. Since you choose Disney as the first ship maybe you could board your second ship with Covid since some other ship lines are stopping testing. One risk is insurance coverage if someone has Covid for the second trip. Another, are you concerned what would be your quality of vacation if one or more of you had Covid? Would you board the ship if someone had a sore throat but tested negative on a rapid test? Someone might encounter symptoms but test negative the first few days. 3 of my close and extended family members experienced that in July and August, about 3 weeks apart.

I’m not making a judgment statement here. Just something to think about which was what you asked about.

I have in Miami, I did NCL then Disney.

The only downside is that you have to kill time before the second cruise since the first ship will kick you out pretty early and the second terminal may not be open yet.

Other than that, no downsides! Have fun!

We're doing side-by-side on 2 lines in November. We're taking a 1 night hotel stay in between the cruises to rest, possibly do laundry, restock necessities and carry on wine. We plan on packing somewhat light to make all of the moving around easy.. packing for a 4 day cruise but washing and re-using the outfits for 10 days. I'm really looking forward to this as it will be something different

We did a 'sideways' DCL last week. We sailed a 4 night on the Wish from Port Canaveral, used express walk-off, then hopped in the car and drove straight down to Miami and got on the Dream. Only took about 3 hours from Ship to Ship and we even managed to make our 11am PAT with some time to spare.

We did end up using the laundry service to help minimize packing and keep things slimmed down.

The only thing to watch out for is the confusion of heading to the wrong location because your favorite lounge/restaurant/theater is no longer where you last left it.
