Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

I've used Sharpies on mine too with no issues of smudging or smearing even after being on my wrist all day at the parks in early September heat!!

Do you mean you used sharpie on top of the final clear base coat? That is what I was planning on doing, because I tried brushing base coat over sharpie and it smeared badly (I'm experimenting with materials before I start my actual bands).

Or is there some way you were able to put base coat on top of sharpie?

I put the sharpie on before I put anything on the band then I waited a couple of days to put the clear base coat over it. On one of my bands I used the Sharpie after I put on base coat and it did smear a little but after that lesson i now use the sharpie on the bare band and let it dry for a day or 2 before going over it with the clear base coat. Hope that helps.

Has anyone used clear acrylic sealer instead of clear nail polish to seal their bands? I have some left over from a craft I did and am wondering if that might work as well. It's the kind in a can you can buy at Michaels or Hobby Lobby, made by Plaid.

I used high gloss sealer on mine and it held up well. I liked it better because it gave it a nice shine :)

Some HELP Plleeeeeezzzzee .....:faint:

My band is half acrylic paint and half nail polish.....don't ask...it is what it is.....
Its pretty much complete.....On the nail polish portion I have put nail top coat on.

Does anyone know if I can use nail top coat on the acrylic paint portion or should I just use the acrylic spray sealer that I already have? :confused3

Also..If so.. do I put it on the acrylic paint ONLY or can I spray the entire band??

Maybe I should cover the whole band in the base coat????? :faint: UGH !!!

You can use nail polish top coat over the acrylic paint. I used a top/base coat combo on all my bands. It works fine.

Don't forget to share pictures with us! :thumbsup2

eta: if you have base coat, use that as your top coat. It is more flexible and won't crack like the top coat might.

Hey HockeyMomNH...go back to the weekend and look at mine. Wanted to let you know your first band was the first one I saw that made me say "yes, I'm doing this!" I chickened out with my first set, but finally got to do another batch! Thanks to you and all the super-talented folks who have been willing to share their ideas!!!

I started to post a comment about your bands when I saw them this weekend. I'm not sure what happened to it. Computer glitch, I guess.

I think your bands look great. My favorite is your Captain America. I love that it has a worn look to it. It's perfect! I love your Jack band too. Especially the candy corn. I think it is the little details that make it cool. :)

HockeyMomNH.....

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your quick response and sincerely "THANK YOU" for that reply. :lovestruc
I did put the 1st base coat on the entire band immediately after reading your post last night and a 2nd coat this AM. 1 more band and I'll probably have pics out later in the week.
I am soooooo relieved!!!
Maybe now I can start thinking about packing?? :rotfl2:

whitney250.....Great TINK and MM...Love the sparkles & candy corn!!! :thumbsup2

If your post is about the band above your post then Thanks!!

It is duct tape I bought at Michaell's. I LOVE the way it turned out!!
Yes, it was about your band! I can't believe that it's duct tape. Could you tell me how you did it? Did you put top coat? Thanks

I did not do anything to the band before starting.
I just cut the duct tape to the length I need making sure to have the larger part of the print covering the Mickey head so it would look balanced. Then I used my fingernail to push the tape down into the grooves between the colored band and the outer gray part.
After I did that I used an eye glass screw driver and ran that along the grooves to cut the tape ( you can also use a box cutter) while pushing the tape into the grooves with my fingernail I pulled the excess tape off.
Since my band was orange to begin with I could see just a hint of the orange in some of the grooves so I just used a black sharpie to cover the orange.
It is so easy to do and only took me about 20 minutes start to finish.
Hope this helps

Love this!! Super cute. Wish I would have thought of duct tape. (Sorry, it won't let me post or quote photos yet).

After combing through this thread from start until now, I am soooooo impressed! I saved them to my Google Drive so I could reference them. I really appreciate all the wonderful examples.

I just got married on Friday, & so our trip will be our honeymoon. I made a set of Bride & Groom Bands. My new DH is actually named James Bond. So I made his AP band a 007 Minion I remember once seeing. The extra band from last year, I just made the 007 symbol I googled.

With mine I wanted to bling the-ever-loving-crap out of. I did that first. Then I found an orange band & decided I needed a fall themed one for the MNSSHP we'll be attending. I guess it's kind of obvious that I ran out of inspiration for the 2 left overs from a previous trip. I just made 'em look like a bracelet.

I used painters tape to keep the grey part clean as a nice contrasting border. Warning. If you use acrylic paint, I will stretch & tear if you don't use an exacto knife (or something similar) to detach the paint from the tape. Nail polish did NOT have this issue.

I've listed composition/materials above the first of each band's pic. Sorry if they are too big. I loaded them from photobucket.

Also, I promise to let everyone know how they hold up. I have 2 days at the water parks planned. So here's to hoping! I sealed everyone of them with w/ Covergirl Top coat.

His plain band.
I guess you can tell I was kind of tired of playing at this point. This is where the acrylic paint/painter's tape issue became known to me.

Another extra band
I used scrapbooking scissors to cut painter's tape with a pretty edge. (By the 6th band I was tired of trying to shove the tape in the gap.) It made for a nice border to the paint.
Teal metallic paint by folk art, scrapbook letters, & scrapbook gems.

All very cute! I especially like the one above - maybe because it's a lot like the one I did for F&G in May! lol I used a pale green nail polish but those same flowers. Loved that band and will be taking it back on more trips. :goodvibes

And the Minion band is adorable - love the eye!
