Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Hi everyone! I am loving this thread! I just haven't been able to make it all the way through yet so I'm looking for some advice because my trip is just about 2 weeks away. I ordered the pink magic band and I would like to decorate it like the cheshire cat. So I'm guessing my choices are to either hand paint it myself and take an image I have found online and transfer it to the band somehow. I am leaning towards printing the image from my computer because I'm not sure my hand painting will satisfy me. What is the best way to do this? What paper? glues? sealers? I have an ink jet printer.

Also, has anyone tried the gel nail polishes? Just wondering how they might hold up compared to the regular polish.

Thanks for any help!

Hey everybody! I joined DisBoards just for this thread! It took me a couple weeks, but I finally made it through all the pages. I have a while before I have to finalize designs, but I love looking at everyone's bands and thinking of ideas that will work for my family. Keep up the good work!

OH, also, anyone who has used sharpie and it not smeared did you do the whole band in sharpie or just details? Pictures?

I have not used a sharpie on the whole band only for small things like Mickey's head or just for outline.

Ok...trying to post pic and it's not showing up. What am I doing wrong?

I use photobucket and with that you just pick the picture you want then click on the circle with an ! In it then copy the last link and paste it in your post.

ladyelenawf - I love your MB's! The minion is precious.....

Where you say you've used a scrapbooking border (like the flowers on your aqua/light green band or the leaves on your fall band)...are those like stick-on jewels?

I've never seen borders for a scrapbook like that....can you share more info about what they're called in the store?

For the folks that used nail polish - how did you keep it from cracking? My first attempt looked lovely but has hundreds of tiny cracks now.

Some people who painted theirs stretched out flat had cracking problems after they closed the band. Painting it fastened seems to help, but cracking around the holes is not that unusual if you take it on and off a lot. I have a couple of tiny cracks that are not particularly noticeable there.

Top coat and/or hard coat polishes crack more easily than base coat as a top coat.

There are so many great bands...we need a like button. ;)

I just realized that I forgot to post pictures of my latest MB....a nod to The Enchanted Tiki Room at DL. We haven't managed to make it to the Tiki Room at MK yet. My grandson and I spent a lot of time there the first two years of his life, when I took him to DL once a week (and his mom worked there a few years before he was born), so it has special meaning.

The funny thing is that you can't tell that it is a magic band in person. Someone thought it was a cloisonne bracelet.lol

I don't have near the talent of you guys. I am planning to print a design on waterproof vinyl printer sheets (bumper sticker stuff). Can anyone trace their cover band, scan it, and post it so I have a template I can use to design with. I need and exact shape and size to work from. Thank you.

That is absolutely gorgeous!

Ermagerd. Ladyelenawf, that Bond Minion is freakin fabulous. The monocle is sheer genius.

I have GOT to ask this question....how in the world do you guys ever make a reservation without them hanging up on you? "I need a reservation for 2 please." "Yes, what's the name?" " Bond. James Bond." Click.

I work with a girl whose dad (now retired from the same place) was Bob Barker. She has a hilarious story about him going on a business trip with a co-worker named Martha White. Needless to say, hilarity ensued. And there's a guy at our work now named Ronald McDonald. Love it.

Congratulations and hope your bands bring you some extra special honeymoon pixie dust!!!!

They Think You're Crazy? Crazy talented, I say. I collect attraction t-shirts, so I love the attraction inspired bands. Not to mention the artistic skill. Great job.

Thank you! In my next life I will collect attraction related items. I've become obsessed with looking at it, but I just don't have room for it in this life. ;)

HockeyMomNH.....Again..Many THANKS for all your tips.
Love ALL your bands and have bookmarked and shared them with all my family/friends.
You have awesome talent!! :cloud9:

BTW....I couldn't really see the outline that you used...so..I used old fashioned tracing paper/pencil to get the Jimminy figure. I probably should have done 2 coats of paint...but..was stressed out by then with the detail..:faint:

Well....No talent me and sister have "finally" finished our MB's and unveiling them now. Not great but all mine!!
Jean finished way before me and went with stickers.
Sorry there are sooooo many shots but I wanted everyone to get a real flavor....so maybe now I can start packing !! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

You're welcome. I can't really take credit for all the tips though. Others on this thread were decorating bands before me and the techniques I use were mostly tested by others here first.

That outline is not mine either, lol! I do have a tracing of a band that I did that I use to sketch out ideas though. I'll see if I can scan it and share it on here sometime.

Your bands came out great! I love Jimminy. :-)

Hello, I just wanted to say thanks first for all the great information and ideas on this post. Wouldn't have even known where to start if hadn't been for everyone here. This is just a sample band that I had from a previous trip hence why I was too particular about some of the overflow on the grey. I have not received my actual ones yet but wanted to experiment a little first and get a feel for what I like and don't like. Let me know what everyone thinks - please be critical if need be, I'm looking for feed back and you guys always have the best ideas! :goodvibes
