Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

I know lots of people have done lilo and stitch bands, but I really wanted a stitch of my own... I just had to figure out how to make it my own design.

here's what I came up with, making the small mickey into stitch's frog friend.

BUT! I found glow in the dark acrylic at the store the other day, so now this is what it looks like when you turn the lights out, or at least the best my phone could capture.

So... now here is my box! I have a few others to paint for friends and family, so I'll be figuring out those designs shortly I suppose.

Super job!

Your Stitch one looks great. I have a design sketched out for my DSis that has the birds from Finding Nemo. They will go across the band like your ducks. It's nice to see how the size looks.

We'll it took forever, but I finally read this whole thread. I love all of these! You are all so talented. I am thinking of trying with acrylic paint because I have more of that than nail polish. I read that nail polish made Sharpie smear. Will acrylic sealer make it smear too, is I outline the design with it? Is the best way to outline design in black using black paint? That just sounds hard. I am not artistic and I don't have a steady hand.

Also, is there any way to get the paint off it doesn't come good? I know I read nail polish remover will take off nail polish, but not sure how to get the paint off.

Here are my bands.

Mine is the purple, DD(5) is the owner of the pink blingy one. Dh so far has not decided what he wants...I used nail polish and rhinestones. I made the mickey heads glow in the dark.

If you remove the paint pretty soon after putting it on, it scratches/peels off easily. If you have sealer on, then it will stay. Have to look up what removes that because I don't know.
I remember doing some tests on paper with the paint, a pen, and sealer an it didn't smear but I ended up not using pen on my MB. You could try a little test at the end of your band or on something else if you want to check. I had an art pen, not a reg. sharpie.

Thanks. I am so not artistic, but these look so much better than the cover bands you can buy. Maybe I will just buy nail polish so I can remove it if I mess up.

Buy pure acetone (near the artificial nails in Walmart). That will get off almost anything. I have even used it to remove the paint on plastic containers (like coffee cans).

Just be careful with acetone. The pure stuff can eat through plastics and erode things.

What kind of sealer have you used? I'm wondering if it will crack.

By the way, your magic band is one of my favorites. :)

I wish the MU was a little more to the left. These are tattoos and it was hard to see through the paper. I even trimmed the tattoo as much as I could. Used base coat, tattoos as directed and topped with more base coat. I kept it linked together as I painted it, in hopes of avoiding cracking. The tattoos changed colors once applied to the band. The edges cleaned up well with water and an orange stick.

Thanks! I used acrylic sealer. I got mine at Micheal's, sold right there next to the acrylic paint. I put on two coats and it did not crack. I wore it while we were there for two weeks.

All of the summer vacation bands! Finished up one more before work yesterday. All free handed acrylics sealed. :cool1:

The words glow in the dark... This is the best photo I could get in daylight.

Very cool, what did you use for the glow in the dark part? Was that acrylic paint as well?

I like the way it turned out. I really like that the MU isn't centered. I think the way it works with the other images gives it a nostalgic feel, like stickers on old luggage or postage stamps and markings on an envelope...it adds interest.

Thanks. Collage was the inspiration. I agree, some of the areas look worn, which I like.

Very cute! I like the words. I'm not good with writing like that.

Thank you! I free handed this, but tiny details are part of my daily life and work so I have a bit of practice
