I've never bought lunchables, but I thought they might be better for my daughter, she is a very light, and picky eater. Do they need to be refridgerated? If she had those to eat, I can then order a kids meal for me, and then we would save even more money. I am also a very light eater.

Because they usually have cheese and ham if would be better if they were refrigerated. Having said that, I have packed them for school lunches on occasion. I put a reusable freezer pack to keep it cold. Or, I freeze a juice box which works two ways: it keeps the lunch cool and defrosts in time for a cool drink with lunch. Let your daughter try 1 or 2 different varieties before you go to make sure she likes them. Adding a piece of fruit, handful of grapes or a small apple makes them a bit more healthful.

I brought the cookie lunchables to eat as a snack because the lunch ones need to be refrigerated.

My daughter will not eat Lunchables! She likes cheese and ham and crackers, but she will not eat these. The nutritional value isn't the greatest either, they do offer a lower fat with the ham varieties. I wouldn't leave them too long in the FL heat even with a frozen juice. We did the frozen juice boxes the first year we took DD and they thawed really fast.

I wouldn't bring lunchables, only because I don't want to deal with keeping them cool.

I have brought something similiar made by Smuckers. Its PB, jelly and crackers in a sealed container. I like it because it holds together well.

The other thing that works well is the tuna and crackers. My one child likes those.

I usually carry one of each in my backpack. Then if we stop to eat somewhere and one of the kids doesn't like the menu, I have a back up. (Believe it or not, my dd doesn't like pizza, french fries, hamburgers......only cheeseburgers, grilled cheese; all those "classic" things on kids meals. So having back up is good)

A kid's meal at counter service wouldn't be too much more expensive and fresher with less hassle

Lunchables run $2.50-3.00. Some include a drink, others don't. Even if the ones you choose do have a drink included, you'll probably want to buy your daughter a COLD drink -- that brings you total cost up to $4.00-4.50. Additionally, I would be concerned about eating ham and cheese that's been in a backpack for several hours in the heat.

Kids' meals at Disney, on the other hand, run $5 and almost always include a drink. You'd also get about four times as much food as you'd get in a Lunchable.

Lunchables are not much of a bargain for the parks, if you ask me. However, they might be just the ticket for a light dinner in the hotel -- you could keep them in a cooler along with juice boxes from home.

I agree with the "not so nutrious" comment regarding lunchables,
the lunch meat must be full of nitrates and such....

plus the tempature must be right to keep the cheese from getting
gloppy and or stale.

I think getting a pretzel as lunch or the peanut butter idea is better. they have fresh fruit as well.

good luck and have a fun trip:wave2:

Ok, I am NOT getting them. I agree that they will not be worth it.
Thanks for the advice! I'll just stick to finding other snacks, that don't need to be keeped cold. Thanks:Pinkbounc

Lunchmakers (generic form of Lunchables) are $ .99 here. They come in the "cracker stacker" type or make your own pizza type. I wouldn't even pretend they are healthy, but they are convenient!

Lunchmakers also has a nacho and cheese one that is good for the parks. It's a decent snack, not messy, and you can share them.

Just a suggestion.

You can get PB&J cracker stackers from Smuckers (no drink) on sale they are 99 cents- that might be a good thing to take into the parks. It is lunchable-like but non-perishible.

I don't know what she eats, but I would think your daughter would be happier having at least the option of a kids' meal. Surely, she will like some of the selections. They are well under $5 at most counter service places.

If you are planning to eat kids' meals, you might want to make sure to visit World Showcase in Epcot. There, you will be able to get some more interesting food than pbj and hotdogs.

You will come out just as well at most places splitting an adult meal with your daughter. If you get a soft drink, make sure to just buy one and ask for an extra cup.
