I was wondering if any one has delt with Car Max in Orlando? A friend of mine told me about them but never purchased a car from them. We are heading down to Flordia in 2 weeks and their prices are much better then up here in NC. I would like to think that they are a good company. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. TIA

They have a great sales policy - the price is the price, no haggling. You can check their inventory online. Their trade policy is great - they make an offer to buy your car, whether you trade or not. Their prices, from the ones I've researched aren't the best out there, but they're good. If I were buying a newer car (under warranty) I would buy from ebay. There are lots of dealers using ebay to list cars - at a great price. I bought my Navigator for several thousand $ less than I would have locally - at a Lincoln dealership in S. Florida.

I bought a pick-up and a Saturn sedan at the Carmax on Independence Blvd in Charlotte (both within the last 30 months). I was very happy with the no-pressure sales policy. Both vehicles were in great condition (had mechanic check them). They also gave us a good trade in value on the one transaction in which we traded. I would definitely do business with them again.

Thank you so much for you replys. Now I am even more anxious to head down to Flordia. Can you imagine getting a new car then heading right to Disney for 4 days then off on a Disney cruise for 7 days. Wow! This is our first family vacation so that is alot in itself. Thank you again for your input!

When we bought our car in 2001, it was not from Carmax, but the dealer was offering less on the trade than Carmax was, so we sold our van without buying anything.

We just bought a new 2005 Toyota Sienna from the one in Maryland (It's also a Toyota dealer) and was very pleased with the transaction. I really don't think we could have saved much by going elsewhere. I browsed their vans online, went one time, and drove home that night. (However, we got $1,000 more on our old van by using Autotraders.com, so I'm glad we didn't sell to them that time.) Our salesman was great and didn't pressure us at all or try to sway us toward any options-- and we checked out many of the vans they had on the lot!

Thank you for your reply. I will check out that site. I want a 2006 Grand Caravan. The price I got from Car Max was $5000 less then the dealer here. Even after I told the dealer here of the price I got there he told me that I needed to buy from them then b/c there is no way he can go that low. He jokingly said I should pick him up a couple at that price while I was there.

Thank all of you agian!

We bought our van new from them and were very pleased with the whole process. They gave us a great proce on our trade-in and on our van. We figured out that we saved $6000 between the two transactions.

We've bought two from different CarMax locations. The cars have been good ones and shopping without hassle was very nice. I'll check with them when I need another car for sure!

By the way, you can go to their website and search for cars at various locations. If you see one you like better at another location, they will ship it for you sometimes for a fee and sometimes not depending on how far they have to go.

We bought my husbands car from the CarMax by the Orlando airport. Excellent service, I have sent atleast 5 people there to buy.

My best friend recently purchased a 2004 Chrysler Sebring at Car Max in Richmond. Within a few days she noticed a problem with the transmission. She took the car back to them and they tell her nothing is wrong with it!! Luckily it is still under factory warranty and she will be able to have it fixed at a Chrysler dealership. But it was still under the Car Max 30 day warranty and they wouldn't do anything to help her with it.

We went to trade our 1996 Pathfinder to this same Car Max in 2004 on a 2002 Pathfinder. It was advertised as blue but when we got there it was black. It was also covered in scratches, like from bushes or tree limbs his excuse was, well black shows scratches easier than other colors! He offered me considerably less on my trade than book value and a higher interest rate than what I expected, when I told him I would finance it through my C.U. for half that he told me I could not do it! He was a real jerk and we ended up just leaving. The next week we bought a brand new 2004 Pathfinder at our local Nissan dealer and not paying much more than what they wanted for the 2002 (and I got my great interest rate at the C.U.).

Maybe they are not all the same, but I know I will never even look at a vehicle at Car Max again.

I bought a Chevy Malibu from them and could not be happier. I refer everyone there and last year my little brother got a great deal on a Cavalier.

I too like the no pressure - would not go anywhere else!

I bought my 2000 grand am from them 2 years ago. Customer Service was ok, car isn't great. I felt they over emphasized their inspection process. Luckily I bought the 3 year warranty and have definitely used it. I wouldn't buy from them again.

ETA: Not in Orlando, but Dulles, VA.
