Has anyone booked through a time share program, not DVC?

Our trip for December has been booked since February. ADRs are done and we have our flights. My mom asked me today if I would be interested in using her extra time share week if she cannot get what she wants. The resorts included are Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club and Old Key West, so we would be upgrading and saving $$$$! I have a couple of questions, though.
1. Are we still eligible to do the DDP?
2. Will I lose all my ADRs and have to start over if I cancel my current reservation?
Any advice or information is very appreciated!

Are you talking about December, 2007? If so, don't cancel anything you already have until your Mom actually has a reservation / exchange in hand. It's not particularly easy to trade into DVC and your Mom is starting late.

If you are lucky enough to get an exchange (all the DVC resorts you list are very nice), yes, you can do the DDP. You pay the same amount as any DVC member who buys the plan. You have to call MS (number is on the exchange info you will get) and make the request. You pay for the DDP at check in, just like DVC members do. Same price DVC members pay. (You also have to make arrangements with MS to pay some type of fee that all exchangers into DVC pay - I think it is $195, but not 100% sure of the amount. Again, that requirement will be on the exchange info your Mom will get).

You will not lose your ADRs.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I would not cancel until everything is set up, I know how tough reservations can be to get especially with those resorts. We don't even know if it will happen, but I want to be prepared.

As for availability in Dec, I tried yesterday to get 3 days, using 6 different weeks for Nov or Dec, at any resort...nothing in a Studio or one bedroom. As soon as the member service rep heard what I needed, she said, " I'll check, but I can just about tell you there is nothing." Good luck!

But you were trying to book with MS for available points ressies. Anyone exchanging in will be booking from points exchanged into the II trading system, and those would not be available to us from MS, since they are essentially already been "used" to trade out.

Thank you Diane. I am still learning. I thought she said she could see the whole week at all the resorts, what she meant was MS Inventory, got it. Thanks again!:thumbsup2
