Has anyone boarded a dog very recently? Wondering about availability.

We're currently in West Hollywood dog sitting while my son is away. Wednesday we are all going to DL -- along with thousands of others :sad2:

Any idea how early we would need to arrive to get a spot in the kennel? Before we left home (we're from NY) my son said he was thinking of boarding the dog closer to home, so I'm not actually sure what his latest thinking is, but want to gather as much info as I can.

And, what are the kennel hours this time of year?

Thank you so much pug:

Thank you for taking the time to reply and for the link. Hours look good!

Also, thanks for the reminder about papers!

Also remember that the kennel is 'self care', it's not like the kennel at WDW. At DL you're required to return to the kennel every 4 hours to feed and 'potty' the dog. The CMs don't handle the animals like a 'regular' kennel or doggy daycare does.

If it were me, I'd probably arrange an overnight stay at a kennel closer to home, it's less disruptive.

I was going to say exactly what StormyCA said. I would only board my dog at DL as a last resort.

Thank you both. Apparently he's trying to arrange for a dog walker to come tomorrow, BUT he's being very last minute about making arrangements. Doesn't he know that moms worry about things like that? He's picking us up at our hotel tomorrow at 6:30 -- I'll be very curious to see if pup is in the back seat!

Yep, pretty typical! Sort of makes you tremble for when they have their first child, doesn't it?:rotfl2:

There is veterinary hospital/boarding facility close to DLR, about 5-10 minutes away by car, called Anchor Pet Hospital (on Lincoln, near the 5 fwy.). If need be, he could also give them a call.

Thanks for the info, Lucky! Have you ever used them?

We took our RV to DL last May and DH & his BFF stayed with our dog while my BFF and I went to DL. I was thinking it would have been nice to have a recommended kennel/daycare list for the DL area. Neither DH nor his BFF (my BFF's DH) like Disney so it was no loss to them not to go, but it would have been nice to be able to meet for dinner at DTD.

The kennel at WDW is really, really fantastic, our dog loved it. I wish there was one near DL. I think it's a franchise and I think someone could really have a gold mine if they started one up nearby and contracted with DLR.

True! And, since I already have white hair, I wonder what's next?

He ended up hiring a dog walker to go to their apartment four times, but I'll tuck away the name of the facility. Sounds promising for the future. Thank you.

Glad it worked out. If you use the Pet Hospital in the future, please consider posting a review here. I'd be interested for future reference.
