Since this is our 1st time staying off site we thought we would try one of the seafood buffets outside of WDW. Has anyone ever tried Angel's, The Lighthouse, Coney Island, or Boston's? What have you liked? What was not good? Thanks in advance for your opinions:D

We went to Boston's one year. We weren't overly impressed. We felt like it was a Ponderosa with Lobster. On one hand, the price is fair for the food offered, and with coupons you can certainly get a belly full of top shelf sea food and steak.

On the other hand, and all appologies to those that like Ponderosa (and no offense to the same): Ponderosa-type food just tastes like it came out of a bag. Their steaks, whether rib eye, sirloin, or fillet, taste the same. Ok, but bland. Somehow, the lobster tasted that way at Boston's. Not terrible, but we were expecting this lobster feast and came away with a feeling that "it was ok, but...."

But that's one person's opinion. We were in a group of six. Two felt like me. Of the other three, one thought it was terrible, one thought it wasn't top notch but that I was being hard on it, and one person thought it was "the greatest deal I've ever seen." Then again, she was from Iowa, not a person I trust for seafood opinions.

If you're ever in Rhoad Island, try the Nordic Lodge. It's about fifty bucks a head, but it's like someone crossed a four star restaurant with a buffet. Now, that's some lobster...

One man's opinion,

Pat

We did it the last nite of our trip last year, they just went in (still in the moving in process) and I HATED IT!! There were things they said they had (DH won't eat ANY seafood) and they didnt. It was just nasty! I did NOT like it one bit! Would never go there again... just my two cents... I want to try one of the other ones... I have lots of fresh seafood/lobsters here in new englad so I am going to be a tough critic! Steph

Angel's and Boston Lobster House are awful IMO. haven't done the other two. Shells on US 192 past marker 15 by 2-3 miles is quite good but like all buffet places, the food can sometimes leave something to be desired.

The best lobster at a chain, IMO, is to be found at Outback Steakhouse. They have some wonderful lobster tails. Also had a great lobster at KW Kools a while back but the following visit wasn't so great.

I'm glad someone said Boston's was awful. I was trying to be nice, but I agree.

I think bottom line, there's a reason why some places charge $25 for a lobster dinner, while Boston's and their kind hand out Lobster, prime rib, and a wide-range of impressive sounding cuisine for twenty bucks. Ya get what ya pay for...

I also agree on the Outback. I've never had a bad meal there. Quality never gets old.

Thanks for your reviews. I personally hate Ponderosa so I am trying to talk my dh into not trying any of these places. Hopefully I can convince him to do the CapeMay Cafe at Y&BC. We did this before and liked it but he wants AUCE lobster......
