Has anyone been to the parks during Pop Warner/cheer championships, 1st weekend of Dec?

Just had to chime in :) We will try to work around the PW times, if we can. I know myself, and I don't have much tolerance for rudeness and bad behavior, so will opt out. Too bad, my BD is 12/13!! Merry Christmas to all pixiedust:

I just returned from WDW while Pop Warner was going on. There were absolutely no issues that I saw or experienced. We were at Coronado and there were a few PW folks there. At the hotel and in the parks I found these young people generally to be polite and cheerful. I will say that it seemed you rarely saw groups of them in the parks until after 2:00 or so. Touring plans had stated that PW had little effect on crowds, etc and I tend to agree. The situation may have been different in the value resorts, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Disney this week. The crowds were quite manageable.

I just wanted to update too, we've been here all week with pretty much zero impact. There's some kids in the parks but there's always kids in the parks...

I was there Dec 5 to 11, staying at BWV, saw some groups in the parks, no issues.

Thank you all so much for the updates! I was pretty nervous for a while, but these replies are helping to put my mind at ease. Thank you all so much! :flower3:

We're visiting the weekend of Dec 4th. Knowing about the football and cheerleading.........I did my research (I guess o_O). We're staying at AoA..........the Pop-Warner kids stay at the All Stars, Caribbean Beach, and Pop Century. I've been told by some that the only issue is at the resorts, if at all. I too have heard their impact on the parks isn't really noticeable other than a cheer or two............they're kids right :-) Again we're not staying at a resort impacted........we also don't share buses with those resorts either.

I'm not going to let it bother me...............can't wait for this visit.............first Christmas time visit for me :santa:

Follow up! Our trip was for the most part NOT IMPACTED at all! Staying at AoA was a smart move..............more babies there than football players/cheerleaders. The MK may have been impacted a bit.............but nothing that mattered. We actually ran into more cheerleaders than football players........or at least they identified easier :)

Bottom line is I felt like I didn't even know there was an event going on. No real impact to our trip! :P

Ditto for us. We were there Dec 1 to 7, so only our last days overlapped with their event dates, and other than seeing young kids in uniforms, no more distracting than anyone else. We were at POFQ so they were not there.

Now, the other teenage girls in the park...We saw a young pair take selfies in the GMR queue for the entire 25 minute wait. They either had the camera on the whole time preening, or were taking pictues constantly, so annoying.

Aw... as long as they weren't actually interacting with you in any way, what's the harm? They were happy, having fun, bonding with each other and entertaining themselves in line. They haven't had these bodies for long, and it's still an exciting thing for them. Why shouldn't they preen?

Being annoyed at them for being themselves, would be like me standing in line behind some happy, chatty person who's burbling away at her family, thinking, "Gawd, I wish she would shut up. Her accent is SOOO annoying!"

Just ignore people, if you don't like the way they act when they're happy, or the way they look, or anything else about them that doesn't affect you.

Cutest moment from my last trip - over hearing a VERY makeup-laden young lady saying, in all innocence, "No one can tell I'm wearing make up! They think I always look this good!" I thought she was adorable.

I'dove to hear some updates and/or reports from those of you who are back from your trips this year.
We're considering this week for our 2016 trip but I'm a bit nervous!
We'd be staying at WL so I know we'd miss the resort aspect, but I'm curious about the parks and if any groups were at MVMCP...
Since its Christmas time, we'd be spending a lot of time in the parks at night with our two kids (8,4) and I'm guessing that is when all of the Pop Warner kids will be done with competitions and practices and head to the parks.
Thanks!
We were at All Star Music from Dec 2-6. We spend most of our time at the parks, but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when we were at the resort. No noise at night, no excessive lines at the food court, no out of control kids, etc. We saw a few teams being lead past the bus stops, but they were all well behaved. We didn't notice them at the parks either.

We will definitely go back the first weekend of December. Crowds were very manageable. Great way to kick off the holiday season.

??? Who cares? This seems like a silly thing to get annoyed about.

In 2014 we went during Pop Warner but I think it was the second to last day. We saw them check out and stuff, they were big groups and kind of noisy but it did not effect us since they were leaving. This was at CSR.

We were there from Friday through Monday, stayed at the Polynesian. Didn't notice any cheerleaders or football kids but OMG at the RUDE BTG's! Obvious that the children were never told how to behave away from home, rude, shoving, screaming in line. Gimme a cheer/football group any time!

We were at CSR from 12/4 to 12/11. Saw groups almost everywhere in the parks and at the resort. Never had a single issue with any of them and would classify their impact on our trip as zero. Parks didn't seem overloaded with them, buses were fine and we only heard chanting one time in one park for about 1 minute.

We were there the week of 12/5-12/12 and only noticed one or two cheer groups on the last day of our trip.

We did see the same tour group three days in a row at three different parks, but they were fine. I actually enjoyed their enthusiasm while we waited to see Fantasmic.
