Has anyone been on an early December cruise?

We are looking for some information from anyone who has ever been on a Disney cruise in early December. We are looking at the 3 days cruise during the first week in December....which is after the hurricane season and wet season - but obviously during a winter month. Will the ship be decorated for the Holidays? Has it been warm enough for anyone to actually swim at castaway cay in December? Any information would be much appreciated in helping to make this decision. Thanks!

We've cruised during this time of year and the ship is decorated beautifully for the holidays! Another bonus of cruising at this time is that the prices are at a low.

The only potentially negative I can think of about this time of year is that if you are doing a 3- or 4-day cruise, the Bahamas is only on average in the 70s and IMO the water temp a little cool. Although, there are many on this list who say that they didn't have a problem with cool water -- even at Castaway Cay. Maybe I'm just a wimp! ;)

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to cruise at this time of year again.

GOOD LUCK!

My DW and I have cruised DCL twice in early December and are on the Disney Wonder this Dec. The water is a little cool but much warmer than the Pacific ocean is in the summer time here in Calif. So we don't mind it at all.

been on the 7 night Western in Early December 2002.

The ship is very beautifully decorated for Christmas and there is holiday spirit everywhere.

On our cruise it was beautiful for our entire trip! I didn't notice any more chill at Castaway Cay than anywhere else, although we scuba'd at both Grand Cayman and Cozumel so we were already ready for the water temp which I believe was around 80 degrees. Had a blast and would go again during that time.

I have not done DCL in December, but have taken 3 December cruises and loved them. Yes, you can swim in the Caribbean, yes it is still quite nice during the day. The only thing you'll need to do is bring a sweater and/or a light jacket for the evenings -- it can get chilly on deck.

We did a 10 day Panama Canal cruise in December and it was amazing. We snorkeled at every port.

We did the 3-day cruise in Dec 2001 and the weather was great! This year we're doing the 4-day cruise right after the 3-day you're looking at.

We are going on the 3 day Wonder cruise on 12/2. I was concerned about the weather, but other posts have helped make me feel better. We were originally going in November but had to move it to December. I am excited about seeing the ship decorated for Christmas.

We were on a mid-December cruise on the Wonder last year. The weather was warm, but we couldn't dock at Castaway Cay due to high waves. It was a big disappointment that led us to a "do-over" cruise in April. :smooth:
