Ive been to Disneyland More times then I can count, but never in April has anyone been? is the crowding bad? what about the weather?

I went toward the end of April last year, and it was great during the week, of course very busy on the weekend.

I'm contemplating going this year in early April, but am skittish about the crowds. If the DLH room prices are anything to go by, the expect it to be very busy! :scared1:

I've been there every month of the year and it's hit or miss in April. Early in the month you tend to get a lot of spring break waves which can die off by late month but if one state or a local county changes their timing all bets are off. I'd stick with the later part of the month and ideally weekdays for the best experience.

Weather should be fairly nice and not hot like summer unless we get a heat wave.

April 2007, BIG MISTAKE. It was during the week of Easter. I knew that it would be SB. But I forgot about Easter, being that same darn week. OMG! Never again! It was too warm, too crowded, and old man almost hit me on my head with his cane. It bit!

April 2006, SB yes, the week of Easter No! It was during the first week of April. The weather was pleasant, no long lines, and no old cranky pants man trying to commit assault upon my person! Most definitely a bonus!

So in summation: Unless one does not mind very large, and possibly unruly crowds, avoid like the plague, Disneyland, the week before Easter and the week after. And always, collect fast passes and arrive at the park at or near the time that it opens.

Our family of six will be making our first trip to Disney Monday April 6 to Saturday April 11. Made the plans for those dates because that's when the kids spring break is up here in Canada's Northwest Territories.

Kids are age 10,12,13 and 17. Do we need to be wished luck?

ummm yeah. That is definitely during spring break and easter is the 12th. But you will still have a great time! We are going the 25th-29th this year for our first trip in April and I am hoping for low crowds since the hours drop dramatically that week.

We went 2 years ago during Spring Break. It was CRAZY CRAZY busy. I wouldn't go now even if it was free. It was so busy it wasn't fun.

According to my calculations, yes, you need to have major wishing anointed upon you and your family. You should be fine, the weekends normally are busier from the weekdays. You will be there @ one week before Easter, coupled along with Spring Break, hence the blessing of good luck for your visit.
It will be busy, but between the wonderment of fast passes, MM, and arriving before the Park opens, and taking breaks possible in the afternoon when it can become, especially during that time frame, insanely busy, y'all will be fine.
For myself, I really do not for see ever visiting Dl again, during the time frame, that I had posted in my pp. Nope! Well most likely never again, anyway.

Remember to ask for your first time visitor button and is anyone celebrating a birthday? Complimentary admission to one park for one day, if that is the case.
There are buttons for other occasions as well. Do you and your family like animals? If so, in Frontier Land, there is a nice petting zoo. Sometimes you can see Mickey and Minnie there too, as well as other characters. And........ there is a horse drawn wagon ride that y'all can par take in. There are two stops at Main Street, and it is free.

Here is hoping that y'all will have a wonderful time and that the lines will be decent, and the weather as well. :)

I'd like to know too. We usually go in July/August and now are trying to decide between April 27 - May 1 or May 11 - May 15.

Both would be great times for you to go! :goodvibes Since you are used to july/august you like the warm sunshine...it will be warm but not what you are used to, chilly in the evenings and mornings but nothing a light sweater can't handle. Also crowds will be light which is nice! :cheer2: Remember that fireworks and most entertainment wont be taking place on weekdays due to it being off season so book one weekend night if that is important to you. Either way you will have a great time!!! pixiedust:

We are going on the 17th of april which is in neither the college or the school districts spring break in my area so Im hoping its not to bad. I wanted to go only on weekdays, but do to circumstances beyond my control (we have to go in cordinence with a freinds wedding) We will be there on a saturday.

We went in April 06, towards the beginning of the month but I can't remember the exact date. But yes, it was busy. We had fun but it was busy.....and I hadn't found the Dis yet so I was sorely under prepared. LOL

No  faces here! You are going to Disneyland! Even when it's busy it is still fun! Also the 17th is not as bad as going earlier in the month! The weekend will be busy but is that the only day you will be visiting? According to the calendar from last year it looks like that was the last busy weekend and then monday the hours went down. Maybe you will be lucky and it wont be too bad? :goodvibes

April last year was great ~ I'm sure this had a lot to do with Easter being in March. We started our trip on Sun. 4/20 and stayed through Thurs. We had a fabulous time. We're headed back the very 1st week of March (2-5) to avoid Spring Break & Easter crowds.

Went last year around April 17th for a week and lucked out with Weather: think it broke into low 80's (still cool come night time) for first few days and then levelled to mid 70's. Being from BC Canada it was a true treat (especially considering it snowed while we were away -- and yes sent a pictures of us at the DL Hotel pool) :beach:

Thanks for your good wishes. I'm hoping that Tuesday April 7th to Thursday to the 9th will be a little less crowded then Friday and Saturday.
