The earliset weve been is May 9th if thats any help, crowds are manageable, and lots of rides were walk onto without queues(as long as you were there on park opening), weather was great nice and hot, in 3 weeks we had one thunderstorm(late evening), and a small very light shower, great time to go.

We've also been starting second week of May and the weather was perfect, only one small storm around 1pm one afternoon. The temps were in the high 80s, low 90s, a little humid but manageable.

The crowds weren't too bad either since the schools were in. We also picked up some great deals with Universal and Busch Gardens tickets at McDonalds - buy one day, get one free - although Universal have some great offers on most of the time these days.

It's a great time of the year to go.

I couldn't agree more with previous comments.

We've been half a dozen times in late April/ early May.....before the kids came along/started school. Since this is the start of the summer schedules you can often get a good charter/package deal.

As others have said, temperatures and humidity are more managable than during the height of summer. Crowds are low and accommodation costs are at their lowest for any DIYers.

Have a great time:)

We always go end April/beginning of May - we're going next year also, 28 April - 10 May. Fewer kids which makes for less families which makes for less waits on the rides! Try and go to the parks on their more 'quieter' days and you shouldn't have to wait too long - some rides will be walk-on for the first hour or 2 after opening. As others have said, the weather can be a bit humid but deffinitely manageable, you can get the odd shower but it's not bad like the really hot humid months. We love going this time of year.

This is definately one of my most favourite times of year to be going we went 8th May this year and I think something like the 5th last year. Last year the weather was great and hot. This year it was even hotter and very very humid but no thunderstorms. The crowds are very manageable and we got to do and see everything we wanted but we had to take afternoon siestas back at the hotel as it was so hot and humid and left you feeling very exhausted.

I'd still go back at this time of year though. I also like the period from end of September onwards as well also very quiet.

That's a great time to go Sam. We are there next year from May 2 to May 14, and will probably trying to plan the last two weeks of April in 2005 to get the most value from annual passes.

The weather is very nice - hot but not too humid, and crowds are very good as well. The other big plus point for us is the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot which runs for the 2nd half of April and all of May - the park looks wonderful, and you have the flower-power concerts going on as well. Look at http://www.wdwig.com/flogar00.htm for details of this year's event.

We were there this year for 2 weeks from May 2nd onwards.

Temperatures this year in May were above average and resulted in near 100 degrees each day. I have been before with temps nearer 90 and afternoon storms but this year was a bit of a one off.

Parks were decidedly quiet, with only real busy times around Spectromagic evenings in MK and some evenings for Fantasmic. Events such as the MK afternoon parade were quite quiet and certainly not 6 deep on the sidewalks like for Spectromagic.

Had no problems with attraction Q's except for Kali River Rapids which peaked at 50 minutes. Rest were between zero and 30 mins. Rides even like Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain were walk on during mornings.

Q's at other parks were also small except Bush which although was quiet had very slow loading times on all coasters and were only running a minimum amount of ride vehicles especially the Rhino Rally. This seems to be a regualar comment with Busch cutting ride overheads out of peak season but if they could load the rides like Universal or Disney, there would not be a problem.

We had no problems getting tables for meals and we didn't do any reservations prior to arriving. We preferred to eat off site during the evenings as we were staying offsite. Only problem we found was Rainforest cafe in Downtown which had a 2.5 hour wait!.....I preferred Planet Hollywood anyway!

I think you will enjoy a late spring break as long as you don't come up against the unusual high temperatures which we experienced.

Oh, and by the way, the package was very cheap with flights, 7 seater and lux villa for less than £600 each (based on 4 persons)for 2 weeks!

Hello.
Thank you for that question.I was wondering about the same subject. My sis and I will go on the exact same dates.22-31 of April at WDW and than on the eastern cruise. We are flying with BA from Gatwick so we might bump into each other.Have a great trip.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

What are flight prices like in May - unfortunately we have to incorporate the last week of May into our plans - school holidays. Also can anyone give an indication of room rates (WDW, DTD or Universal hotels) at this time of year? I imagine you would book your flights first and book a good deal on the room later on in the year(next year)
