Has anyone been chosen to be a balloon handler for the parade?

I've read about this a few places & wondered if anyone here has done it? If so, any tips on how to get involved?
I think it would be a blast, I love watching the Macy's parade every year.

I've done it a couple times. Make sure you have closed toed shoes. They usually recruit a few hours before the parade, so just look for people walking around in solid colored jumpsuits. They'll usually come up to you and ask you to participate, but I'm sure you could walk right up to them and ask.

How long is the time commitment if you sign up? Are we giving up 2 hours, cause if not I would love to try this.

I dont remember exactly but I believe it was more than 2 hours when we did it a few years ago. I want to say closer to 3.
