Has anyone been able to use Apple Pay at WDW?

I am going next month and was hoping to use it to buy tickets and at restaurants - anywhere I can since there is a 10% bonus with Discover Card. Just wondering if it is up and running in the parks or where it does work?

I've used it myself to make purchases at merchandise shops, but I've had numerous guests try to use it in my ticket booths and it never seems to work. I've never tried it at a restaurant.

Thanks! I won't count on it for tickets or restaurants' but I will still try. Who knows maybe it will work eventually. Good to know that I can use it for souvenirs!

Yeah did it with restaurants (including the portable hand scanner some of the waiters have but not for sit down restaurants because they just took my card then) stores and the GF gingerbreaad house. :)

Has anyone been able to pay room charges with Apple Pay, like purchase tickets with magic band, then pay at desk?

I don't think it matters in that case - You can't make purchases on your band without a credit card already linked to the magic band or in this case your room (which is what will get charged when you use the MB)

Yes, but you can actually pay the charges with a different card or with Disney gift cards before the linked cards get charged, so if Apple Pay was functional, it could be used....

I used my Apple Watch no problem last trip. The big big thing is you have to let them know you are using Apple Pay. I had one idiot CM decline my payment and then ask me to try again and admitted I was the first one to come through with an Apple Watch and he thought it was so cool he wanted me to do it again. I only say he's an idiot because my bank puts that as a processing hold when the cashier is who denies the transaction so I was stuck with 100 on hold for about 3 days as the process dropped off.

I'm debating if I want to wear my watch again or not this trip.

Yup, used it all over during our trip.
I think there was only one time it didn't work and the CM said her reader kept messing up that day.

We were unable to use Apple Pay with Discover while we were there at the start of the month. CMs mentioned they'd never had Discover work, and Discover admitted that it wasn't working at Disney and some other locations and they were "looking into it." We DID get it to work at Les Halles, but no where else.

We had been hoping to take advantage of the bonus and were rather frustrated that Discover had rolled out this promotion while knowing it wasn't working across the board.

Hopefully they'll have it sorted by the time you go!

Exactly, I was wondering this myself! I will post when I get back where and if I get it to work during my trip.

Thank you! So maybe it's not apple pay that is the problem? It is the discover card ? So people who have a different credit card connected might be able to use it. Of course that defeats the purpose for me of the 10% cash back! but still it seems like a good option for security.

Huh... I'm surprised Discover would have a problem like that. Especially if you could just swipe the Discover card to use it instead.

(For the record I was using American Express for my ApplePay)

(Btw if you want some real fun, try using it in a cab - Went to miami and took a cab from the airport and saw the scanner on the back seat had the tap system so tried holding up the iPhone to it and the card showed up on the display (meaning ApplePay would work) and did the purchase through the phone and freaked the cab driver out! SORCERY!!! :) )

LOL, sounds like you had fun with that! This all new to me, the only reason I even thought about apple pay was when I read thst discover card had a promotion for using it until the end of the year. I live in the boonies and so far have only had a chance to use it once. I do think it's a great idea and hope to use it more in the future with our without discover card. But it sure would be sweet to get that extra discount for purchases on this trip! ;)

Even better, if you opened up a Discover card during their double cashback promotion time, you will get 20% back using ApplePay (Actually 22% because it is a bonus 10% on top of the regular 1%).

That would be nice! From what I have been reading the issue is with discover card, not apple pay. People have said that apple pay works with other credit cards, but not so much with discover. :(

I also had trouble with apple pay at the F and W kiosks. I thought it was my phone but I was able to use apple pay at a Walgreens later. Bummer that you cannot take advantage of the cash back promotion.

I have heard that as well. I am going at Thanksgiving and was hoping to charge my park tickets for my next trip, and all my magicband charges on ApplePay. I have the double cash back on my Discover account.

So do I! That was my reason for getting a new discover card. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered.

Sorry it didn't work for you either. At least I won't be shocked and upset if it does t work for me either. I am still going to try though!
