Has anyone been able to do this?

We don't have park hopper, but have an extra day on our myw passes. We want to use one day/one park admission in the morning and one day/one park admission in the afternoon one day. I just got off the phone with a cast member in guest services who was very irate to the point of rudeness that we would try to "park hop" when we haven't purchased park hopper passes. We'll most likely not take the risk of going to the second park and waste one day on our tickets (gotta get back to work), just wondering if anyone has done this.

No, you cannot use the second admission on the same day to get into another park. Disney would be losing money on park hopping if they let you do this because extra days are so cheap.

No. You cannot do this. That is what park hoppers are for. If you want to visit more than one park on a given day you either must have a PH or an annual pass. Period. That is why the CM was insistent and emphatic that you can't use 2 day tickets on a single day for different parks.

I always thought it was set up that once you entered a park, that was your day at that park, unless you have a hopper. If you went to another park, it wouldn't work, because you'd already used that day. Based on days, days do not equal parks. Make sense? This was always how it was explained to us. Hope it works in your favor though!

You have it exactly right - you buy days, not entrances. And it won't work in the OP's favor. Going to more than one park in one day is park hopping, and you can't park hop without a park hopper.

The park hopper option is a added ticket cost and the ONLY way one can visit more than one park a day.

I wish that were true, but no you can do it. We as a family of 5 actually found it cheaper to add a night to our reservation and do another full day, than add hoppers.

:welcome: to the DISboards, and believe it or not, just about every other new person here asks that very same question! You get an extra dose of pixiedust:

We had this very thing happen to us about 8 years ago. Without knowing the policy, I took my 2 DDs and their friend to Disney/MGM Studios on the morning of our last day. We had hopper passes, but DDs friend had 2 days left on her non-hopping ticket (she skipped a day earlier in the week, so she had two to burn in one day). When we arrived at MK later in the afternoon, to meet up with the rest of her family, we were told she could not enter.

After talking with the cast member, and notifying them that her family was indeed inside the park and we had no prior knowledge of the policy, they sent us to Guest Relations to have a new ticket issued so she could enter with us. Thank goodness they understood our situation.

With all that said, what we discovered was that you can in fact use two tickets days on one day IF they are on separate tickets. Not that you would necessarily want to, but if you have two separate tickets, it can be done.

This. :thumbsup2

So many people ask this -- I can't imagine how many times per day the CMs get this question.

Once upon a time (10+ years ago) you COULD do that, but not anymore.

I hope she and you both realize that she got sprinkled with a huge shovel full of Pixie Dust. It is a definite, usually non-negotiable pricing method. I'm glad things went well, but, it could be very expensive for someone if they go thinking that it's possible as a matter of normal procedure. Not knowing the policy, is really not relevant because the tickets specifically state one park, one day. I've known people that made ADR's in Epcot thinking that they could get in because of that after spending the day in MK. They couldn't and had to buy a day ticket to get to dinner. A very expensive dinner at that.

It would seem that you should be able to use a whole day if it's available, but Disney prices are tapered so that the more days you buy the cheaper the per day rate becomes.

Technically true. However, you normally would not be able to exchange the extra day of a multi-day ticket for a separate 1-day ticket. And although you could purchase a separate 1-day ticket to enter a second park on the same day, paying full price for a 1-day admission to go to a park for 1/2 a day is one of the least cost-effective things you could do.
