A friend of mine suggested I take a class or seminar offered by Dale Carnegie. He took a program that went for 12 weeks (3 1/2 hours per session) called the "Dale Carnegie course"

Has anyone taken a Dale Carnegie Course and have any feedback on it?

I did it, and thought it was really good. It was so funny to go into a room with a bunch of strangers, and 12 weeks later to get on really well with them, you can make great new friends.

The objectives are:
1. Build greater self-confidence
2. Strengthen people skills
3. Enhance communication skills
4. Develop leadership skills
5. Control worry and stress

I have to say I think it delivered on all counts.
Since I did it, I had to deliver a talk to about 70 people and I know if I had done it before the course I wouldn't have made a good job of it, but having done the course I felt a lot more confident and, if I say so myself, gave quite an impressive speech!

I still have my course manual, so if you have any specific queries, feel free to ask or pm me.

Yes, I have taken the course. And remember this answer:

World Peace!!!

You'll know what I mean when you take it....

BTW, My mental name is Bart Simpson trying to spear a target. You'll also understand later....

Oh, and take some tissues with you. Sometimes it turns into some sort of confessional.

I took a Dale Carnegie class about 13 years ago to get better at public speaking for work. A lot of the other people in the class were there because they were not getting along with other people at work. There were a lot of engineers and people in scientific type careers. (Not implying that people in these careers can't get along with people. It was just that this particular class had a lot of these people.) Anyway, I did get better at public speaking and took another job that required it. Now I don't do any public speaking at all and am right back where I started from - don't want to do it. The classes are run by very posititve people and are very good for raising your self-confidence level.

Many many years ago and it was wonderful! A group of us from work did it and we came out of it getting along much better. At one of our company's yearly "meetings" we actually had Dale there as a speaker. He is very cool to hear in person. He had a very good insight into what makes people tick.
