Has anyone arrived to find that their reservation was cancelled?

We arrived here at the BCV's(our first stay here at the BCV's as DVC owners) after flying from California to find out that due to a system error:confused3 our dedicated 2 BR, 2 Queen beds room was cancelled! We were told that it was NOT cancelled by a CM but was some kind of a system error. We were told we were "lucky" that they were able to book us another 2 BR although it was no longer a dedicated 2 Queen bedroom room.:headache: Has anyone ever had this happen? I wonder what would have happened if they didn't have another 2 BR available. I really think MS needs to work on their system if it's canceling people's reservations for no reason. They called us about 4 hours after we got into our room and said they had been working on what went wrong for the past 4 hours and could not figure out what happened. They did give us a room credit for the loss of the 2 queen beds which I thought was more than generous as I wasn't asking or expecting anything. I was just glad to have a room at all. I was just curious if anyone else has had a problem with a "system error"?

Despite the rough check-in, everything else has been wonderful. The CM's are great and have been wonderful. We are in room 151 and it was spotless. Mousekeeping did a great job cleaning before we got in it. The only thing I have noticed, which I know some others on this board have talked about, is the need to change the carpets. The hallway carpet leading to our room is almost black from dirt in some areas. The room carpet is a little better but is also in need of replacement. Other than needing some updating, we have a great woods view and it is very quiet. I think we made a good choice buying here as we had a great time at the pool today. Thanks for listening!

Wow - I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! I hope that everything else goes smoothly on your trip and that you have a wonderful time after such a shocking start. Here's some pixie dust to help! pixiedust: Make that a double!! pixiedust: pixiedust:

I've heard about a couple of similar glitches. I've also heard about a few episodes where they were overbooked and had to change the resort of the person involved with variable results. Slightly OT but I've also seen lots of times where people that own fixed week timeshares showed up the wrong week, many times in HI and Aruba esp.

Not thorugh DVC....but I was staying the YC before my BCV stay....and that was cancelled....Found me another....room ready view of the wedding gazebo though:goodvibes

When at HHI last year we checked in only to find out that our studio had somehow been cancelled. They did not have another available, so we were given a 2 bedroom for the same points. Very Nice.

That's the error we all wish for!pixiedust:

Hall carpets were replaced last year. We were there in Aug and they had just finished the 3rd floor, everything looked so nice but with so many people in and out hard to keep up. You may have hit just before they were cleaned, not sure how often that is done.

Sorry for the scare and glad it worked out. Having been in the IT world for many years I have found that computers and software rarely ever cause isolated anomalies. Most likely this was human error or intervention. :badpc:

Oh my - I'm glad it worked out that you were able to get similar accommodations and that they credited back some points for you - nice. Sounds like you're having a nice stay otherwise.

I always go online and double-check the ressies on the DVCMembers site, especially if we've made the reservations far in advance.

We're doing our first exchange outside of DVC next week (concierge collection). I called the hotel we'll be at to double-check that we're on the list for the right dates (yep, we are) just because we've not traveled outside of DVC on points before. I didn't want to make a big trip and show up without a room.

The interface between the chair and the keyboard strikes again!:surfweb:

Haven't had this happen so far:rolleyes1 and sorry it happened to you, but glad they were still able to accomodate you.:yay: We have had to make so many changes to our upcoming trip so I am checking regularly to make sure it doesn't get messed up. Hope the rest of your trip goes smoothly and you have a great time.

Something like this happened with a reservation we made for friends, but thankfully, this was caught by chance.

Last month, received a letter that a waitlist came thru  for one night.

Called to cancel, since I had cancelled that waitlist the last time I called MS to modify existing reservations.

Being neurotic, I asked MS to double check both reservations (ours and our friends'), and theirs had been cancelled  Thankfully, I had a great MS rep on the phone who was able to make it right. But it would have been very embarassing if we had lost the reservation and been unable to retrieve it since we had already extended the invitation to our friends and they accepted. (I can just imagine the conversation with them :guilty: )

In MHO, the changes that were made to MS' system with auto waitlist and such has created a greater possibility for snafus to occur.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Temporary heart attack!

On a lighter note, when I saw your title to this thread I thought 'Oh boy, another DVC'er borrowing trouble'! But it was for real!! Silly me......:lmao:

Oddly enough all that hallway carpeting was just replaced last year, it's the carpeting in the units that is original. The new hallway carpeting has darker shades of the colors used originally and management had hoped that the darker colors would fare better with regard to traffic. I have not heard when they plan to replace the carpeting in the units but I hope it will be soon, some of them are starting to look pretty raggedy.

Did you see any bags of trash sitting around in the hallways outside the doors? This has been a problem before and many people think it contributes to the condition of the carpet being soiled.

We are on the first floor and maybe it wasn't replaced on this floor or maybe the traffic is much greater:confused3 but it isn't just the shade of the carpet, it really is dirty. I will try and take some photos if I can get them to come out as the hallway isn't that bright. I have not seen any trash or anything else in the hallways expect the maid's carts. The mousekeeping here seems to be really on top of things and everything in our room was spotless. I did notice that in front of the service room doorways the carpet is the dirtiest so maybe they place trash on the floor here:confused: but I have not seen any. That being said, we are having a wonderful stay and just because a carpet is dirty or not, I would never let it affect my trip. I do notice that the carpet in our room where the carpet meets the kitchen floor is torn a little and frayed. Again, I would take worn carpet over a dirty room anyday. However, I do not have any little ones(my youngest is 9) so my view my be a little different if I had little ones crawling around.

OT-Back from a long day at Epcot where 3 rides were down, TT, Ellen's Energy ride and Spaceship Earth when we left. Yesterday, the new Toy Story Mania was down at DHS from opening to about 12:30 pm and only one side of ToT was working for part of the morning. It seems like the parks are having a hard time keeping the rides going this trip! The up side is that it hasn't been as hot here as I thought it would be!:woohoo:

I also agree it was probably human error because we were given a room credit not a credit of points from MS so this leads me to believe it was an error with the front desk, not MS. My reservation was still showing online at DVC.com so I don't know how it could have been cancelled but show up online. I think it's easier to blame a computer than a person!;)

sorry what is the different betweeen the 2 credits
I'm sure it was simply $$$. This has happened to use several times when there were problems with a reservation or a long delay. We never asked but they do volunteer at time when they know it is appropriate.
