Everytime I check the Ding fares, the price sounds good but when I check the dates I want there's never anything availabe.
I was just wondering if anybody has had any luck with the Ding fares.
Thanks,Joe

We have in the past but it seems much more difficult to do lately. Availablity is limited.

I've booked five different trips between DTW & PHX using Dings. The last was the lowest, $176.00 RT. It helps that I'm on the PC at home all day and can jump on them as soon as they appear.

I have been able to use Ding Fares twice within about 2 weeks this year.

I got ding'd for Hartford (BDL) to Orlando for my Cruise April 28 and May 6th to fly home. $49 each way.

Then a different Ding came in and I was able to book my trip to WDW for May 25 and June 1st for $44 each way.

Its frustrating knowing that people get these fares and I wasn't getting any then those flights poped up so I felt like I won the lottery. Hang in there things do open up.

I was able to get a Ding fare for my family of five for $36 from BWI-MCO for June 9. I jumped on it and was able to get the flight I wanted, 7AM-910AM!
But the schedule ends on June 9th so far and I am waiting to book our return flight for June 16. I hope I can get at least $49.

I have booked many DING fares. A lot depends on how flexable you can be. Friday and Saturday and Sunday fares are harder (but not impossible) to get.

I normally book a Thursday out and a Monday return when I travel to Florida.

I work from home and i am on my computer all day, so i am right there when i hear the ding--

i am flying out in sept on a sat and back the following sun. i know the ding fares are not up through sept yet- however, when i hear the ding i just try for a weekend for the months they are advertising, jus t curious-- as soon as i click on the weekend days- i am told they are not avail. i have a feeling i will not be using SW to fly in sept. i dont think i will have any luck with weekend dates. thats OK i am waiting for airtran rates for sept. they may be pretty good.

i think you have to be flexable or fly during the week to get a great rate......or be exremently lucky!

Joe,
A couple weeks ago I purchased a Ding fare of $39 non-stop from Philly to Orlando and $39 from Orlando back to Philly.
Came out to a total of $388 r/t for our family of four:thumbsup2

This is the second time we've used a Ding fare, even though it is hit or miss.

I had first time luck with a DING out of Harford to Orlando on 4/29 for $44.00.
There was no availabilty for a DING fare on our return date of 5/7 so we have made the supreme sacrifice of staying in Orlando an extra day. We fly back to Hartford on 5/8 for $49.00. Four R/T tickets on non-stop flights for $448.40 total.

it depends on the season and how flexible your plans are.

feb, march, and april 2006 have not been good, for all dates\times I needed all the DING! fares showed as unavailable, the same with sale fares.

where as for Jan, May and June 2006 I was able to get some $115 rt's from Chicago.

For October of last year I got $85 and change RT to Orlando from Birmingham on a Weekend.

For December of last year I got $75 and change RT to Orlando from Nashville mid week flights.

Carol

YES, but if you're looking for a peak flight, first N/S flight on a Saturday morning for example, you're likely to be disappointed. SW uses fare sales, including DING, to sell seats on flights that aren't likely to sell out without discounts.

I just booked ISP-MCO for $44 each way a couple of weeks ago for our May trip. We had to change our travle dates so we are now going Wed-Tue. luckily for us our schedules are flexible enough that we can fly midweek.

GrumpyCHook, I am going to see the mouse at the same time as you. I will have to look for you in the airport.
I leave on the 25th and come home on the 1st also.
I got the same price, $44.00 each way through DING. I am very happy to have found DING, now that I am not working I will be able to spend more time with the mouse. Peggie

My daughter had already book airfare from BWI to MCO and then learned about DING here on the Dis boards. She was able to cancel her reservations, use the money right away to book the DING fare and saved something like $190 for the 2 r/t fares. The balance was place on account. LOL she will use it to fly home in August

We lucked out and got 34 each way from DTW to MCO. We're flying tuesday to tuesday in April. $523 for 5 people.
