Has anyone’s child had a bionator?

Today my DS got his bionator and I must admit I was surprised (and he seemed surprised) about how big and bulky it was. When the orthodontist told him to put it in, I could tell DS was uncomfortable. The orthondist said to try and keep his mouth together when he talks, to keep the bionator in place and that he’ll eventually get use to it.

DS has so far been tolerant of it, keeping it in all day but even I have a hard time understanding him. I can’t imagine anyone getting use to something like that in their mouth,
but has anyone else had experience with this?
