We all know the bus drivers tend to exceed the speed limit at times, but I've never seen one of them pulled over. I was wondering if anybody else has, or does the Sheriff let them slide or have a higher tolerance than for cars?

I've not seen it but I doubt there is any favoritism. It would not surprise me that Disney buses (and even Greyhound buses, for that matter) have speed control governors on them then prevent a driver from going much over 55mph. The last thing any professional driver wants is someone calling in to complain about a maniac driver.

I'm pretty sure that if any commercial bus was seen going 10+ mph over a speed limit, the FHP or Sheriff's office or OPD would pull the driver over. Disney CM's driving their personal autos on Disney property get pulled over all the time and they receive citations just like everyone else. I see no reason to believe that Law Enforcement would be any kinder just because the vehicle says Disney on it.

I have seen regular cars pulled over and a lot of them have been right by the Magic Kingdom entrance gates, however I have not seen any transportation buses pulled over.

Disney and Mears drivers get a break when it comes to their drivers getting ticketed. Those drivers have to be doing something real bad before they get a ticket. The Mears busses are supposedly governed on their speed, but I have been passed by a few DCL and ME busses at speeds higher than what they are supposed to be governed at.

I have been told by law enforcement officers that they do give the busses quite a bit more slack.

Not exactly on topic but lots of fraud gets committed against transit companies when a bus gets into a crash. Even things like bystanders boarding the bus after the crash and suing the bus company for an alleged injury.

So it behooves the bus company to instill some discipline in its drivers.

I have also heard of that in any city when a public transportation bus gets into an accident.

The Orange County Sheriff's Dep't patrols the WDW roads at the invitation of WDW (the roads are private property). I would not be shocked if it was learned that part of the invitation to the Sheriff's Dep't includes a reference to not ticketing WDW vehicles unless there was dire circumstances.

Orange county does issue citations to Disney bus drivers while driving the bus, but It usually needs to be more than a couple MPH over. I persoally saw a DTD driver get cited while on the bus. The sheriff pulled into the load zone to write him up. It was for 50 in a 35 on Buena Vista Dr in front of Planet Hollywood so it does happen. They will cite other moving violations as well. FHP will cite a driver if an accident on property was his fault also.

Why would you want to know this?

Man, that driver was cranking! That's more than a little peppy for that stretch of road. Glad he got cited.

Many of the roads are public Orange County roads. The county police are there under an arrangement with the cities of Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista. While the cities (and RCID - which absorbs all their functions) are effectively controlled by Disney, they are still public government agencies and have to obey the laws just like everyone else.
